The Delta State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Izeze Rume Yakubu Reuben, has hosted members of Ughelli South Ward 9 (Jeremi II) in appreciation of their loyalty, commitment and support for Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following the successful conduct of the party’s primary elections.
The gathering, held on Saturday in Oginibo Town, Ughelli South Local Government Area, was organised by the commissioner as a show of gratitude to party supporters and grassroots mobilisers who participated actively during the week-long political activities.
The event, which featured food, drinks and entertainment, attracted party faithful and residents of the ward in what turned into a celebration of the party’s victories in the presidential and governorship primaries.
Speaking through a post shared on his Facebook page titled “The Village Men Movement, Jagaban/Ukodo Victory Celebration,” Izeze said the gesture was aimed at appreciating the people for their steadfastness, organisational discipline and loyalty to Governor Oborevwori and other party leaders.
According to him, political participation becomes more rewarding when grassroots supporters are recognised for their sacrifices and contributions.
He noted that since transferring his voting unit from Uvwie Ward 1 to Ughelli South Ward 9 in 2003, he had consistently mobilised the people and expressed satisfaction with the level of commitment demonstrated by party supporters.
“Politics is sweet when the villagers feel appreciated for the little things they do. We are village men and women for Asiwaju and Ukodo,” he stated.
Izeze also described the gathering as an opportunity to celebrate the victories recorded by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in the APC primaries.
Earlier, the commissioner had mobilised party members from Jeremi II Ward to participate in the APC Presidential Primary exercise where President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, secured 4,013 affirmative votes in the ward against the nil vote scored by his lone opponent Stanley Osifo.
The exercise was described as peaceful and orderly, with party members turning out in large numbers.
Reacting to the outcome, Izeze expressed appreciation to party supporters for their commitment and congratulated President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori on their victories.
He disclosed that Ughelli South Ward 9 recorded a total of 4,013 affirmative votes for Tinubu during the presidential primary.
The commissioner reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots mobilisation and sustaining support for the APC leadership in Delta State.
Party supporters at the celebration commended the commissioner for recognising their efforts, describing the appreciation gathering as a demonstration of leadership and connection with the grassroots.
