PDP Denies Picking Wike As Atiku’s Running Mate, Says Consultation Still Ongoing

By EgbemaVoice, The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denied reports that said Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has emerged as the running mate to the party’s presidential candidste, Atiku Abubakar. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, made this known in an interview on a live programme of Arise News on Wednesday. EgbemaVoice online News earlier reported that the PDP committee set up to recommend a Vice-presidential candidate for Atiku picked Wike as his running mate. While picking Wike as its first option, the panel said the governor as the vice-presidential candidate will do better for the ticket than his other challengers. Other candidates considered for the PDP presidential ticket are Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State. By EgbemaVoice Nigerians have expressed divergent reactions over the reports that the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has picked Nyesom Wike as running mate to its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.  EgbemaVOICE reports that the committee set up by the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to pick Atiku Abubakar’s running mate settled for Wike. Wike was floored Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta state governor, to emerge as Atiku’s running mate. Wike won by a whopping 16-3 vote and Okowa only got 3 votes. Reacting, many Nigerians expressed fears that Atiku and Wike may fight during meetings. Others described the team as a ‘deadly’ squad that can dismantle APC.

Wike won by a whopping 16-3 vote and Okowa only got 3 votes.   Observers believe that Ifeanyi Okowa would have been the natural fit for the job, but the obstacle he has is that his former godfather, James Ibori, mounted a serious opposition and resistance to Atiku picking Okowa because his former political son Okowa hijacked the PDP delta state structure from him.

Okowa tasks new judges on ethical conduct

By EgbemaVoice,  Delta Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has called on judges in the country to discharge their duties with utmost impartiality, courage, integrity, humility and commonsense to guarantee justice for all.  He gave the charge at the swearing-in of four new judges into the state judiciary and a member of the state's Judicial Service Commission at Government House, Asaba, and also urged the judges to deploy patience and wisdom in the dispensation of justice. Strike: ASUU to sanction non-complying chapters

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has threatened to query universities that have failed to comply with its decision to remain on strike while negotiations with the Federal Government continue. ASUU President, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Abuja. NAN recalls that ASUU had been on strike for the past five months to press home its demands. Multi-billion Naira Assets Traced To Suspended Accountant General, Idris
