Warri North, Delta State Ambassador Apostle Benjamin Kukuru, popularly known as Ebis, has strongly condemned the persistent disunity among ethnic groups in Warri North Local Government Area, describing it as the primary driver of the area’s prolonged underdevelopment and socio-political stagnation.
Amb. Kukuru made this known during a high-level engagement with the Egbema Youth Council, where he formally declared his intention to contest for the Delta State House of Assembly seat representing Warri North Constituency in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
In a firm and forward-looking address, the aspirant stated that his candidacy is anchored on a clear vision to unite the Ijaw and Itsekiri people, restore peace, and reposition Warri North for sustainable development and equitable representation.
He lamented that for decades, Warri North, alongside other Warri local government areas, has suffered neglect and infrastructural deficits largely due to ethnic divisions, supremacy contests, and conflicting ownership claims. According to him, these tensions have not only slowed development but have also fueled avoidable conflicts that continue to undermine the region’s full potential.
“The lack of unity among our people has cost us dearly. Warri North is richly blessed, yet remains underdeveloped because we have allowed division, personal interests, and ethnic sentiments to override our collective destiny,” he stated.
Amb. Kukuru further expressed concern over the recent delineation exercise in the Warri Federal Constituency, noting that while it generated tension and nearly escalated into crisis, it also presents a critical opportunity for fairness, inclusiveness, and renewed development if properly managed.
He called on all stakeholders traditional rulers, political leaders, youths, and community influencers to rise above divisive tendencies and embrace a new era of cooperation and shared purpose.
“We are one people. We are born together, we live together, and we intermarry. There is no justification for conflict or division. The future of Warri North depends on our ability to build bridges, not walls,” he emphasized.
Reiterating his commitment to inclusive governance, Amb. Kukuru pledged to champion policies and initiatives that will promote unity, economic empowerment, youth engagement, and infrastructural advancement across Warri North.
He concluded by urging the people of the Warri Federal Constituency to embrace a new political direction—one defined by peace, justice, equity, and collective progress.
