A report was delivered by the Director of Socials regarding a fire outbreak in Agenebode, Edo state, targeting Hausa/Fulani-operated charging centers. Sources suggest this was retaliation for a kidnapping incident involving a young boy, allegedly perpetrated by Hausa/Fulani individuals. The boy's brother reportedly recognized the voice of one of the kidnappers, a Hausa resident, during a Facebook call demanding ransom.
The brother mobilized and had the suspects arrested, with evidence found including the victim's phone. However, upon searching, it was discovered the boy had been killed and buried. Local youths, notably the Otukwe boys, prevented the police from transferring the suspects to Benin for further investigation, leading to destruction of property and threats of further action.
