A serious tension has been raised in Ajakurama communities, Egbema kingdom, in Warri North Local government Area of Delta State, following a con oil producing plc rigg situated in Ibarebote community and environs over the plot AX4 oil field.
The uproar started on Wednesday 23rd August 2022 when the Aforementioned rigg was sighted in the environment by the people without any prior negotiation or interaction with the Leadership of the Communities in the territory. Some of these communities include:
Ugure Community 1and 2
Olugbaka Community 1 and 2
Tanga Community,
Ibarebote community,
Ojobor Community
Obegha Community and others,
According to Chief Comrade Pastor Tikilikiwei who's from Olugbaka Community, con oil producing plc is trying to intimidate and oppress the peace loving people of Egbema kingdom, according to him" how could an oil company in this 21st century navigate and situate a rigg in someone's location without first having a negotiation which might lead to signing a General memorandum of understanding ( GMOU), Memorandum of Understanding ( MOU) not even a Freedom to Operate (FTO).
Although this was the same way Enisco Nig Ltd refused to dialogue with the Communities when it excavated the terrain for con oil, destroying the ecological and ecosystem thereby depriving the people of survival without any compensation".
In the same vain Chief Stephen Okoro, from one of the above mentioned communities also stated that con oil producing plc is suspected of deal with a third party, thereby further depriving the people of their entitlement.
Two of the oldest men in the territory Chief Paymaster Ugami and Apostle Lylon Ugure also express there displeasure over the nefarious attitude of con oil producing plc towards the Communities, thereby joining host of other bonafide indigenes in calling on the company to come for proper negotiations, for it is not too late for the right thing to be done, hence they don't guarantee peace if the company do otherwise
Furthermore, Mrs Akpo-aboebinimighan Awomu, a woman leader, Comrade Victor Ugami all stated there grievances and support the decision of the Communities Leadership and elders in calling on con oil producing plc to do the needful by coming down to the Territory to negotiate with them and have a common understanding before operation to avert any unforseen doom which might befall the company.
