The Executive Director of Women Initiative for Values Empowerment and Sustainability International (WIVES Int'l) Comrade Mrs Tonbra Kasikoro Kilopirite has commended the Leader of the Niger Delta People's Volunteer Force (NDPVF) Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari for establishing a female security Team popularly known as Apapa Soldiers.
The commendable move by Alhaji Dokubo Asari is in fulfillment of the UNSCR 1325 resolution on women, peace and security.
For the emphasis, UNSCR 1325 is a global commitment that is aimed at ensuring that women and girls are more systematically and sustainably integrated into peace and security.
The UNSCR 1325 has also affirmed that peace and security efforts are more sustainable when women become equal partners in the prevention of violent conflict.
The United Nations Security Council's quest to involve women in Peace and Security is a policy framework that recognizes women as critical actors in all security issues.
It therefore means that Alhaji Dokubo Asari has affirmed the importance of having women as major drivers in the promotion of peace and security across communities as well as the society at large.
WIVES International NGO is an expert in peace and conflict management which is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that women’s priorities are given central attention during peace and security decisions.
Conclusively, women all over the world have helped safe guard their homes, environments etc hence WIVES Int'l NGO had viewed what Alhaji Dokubo Asari has done on security as a square peg in a square hole. It goes to show the numerous contributions of Alhaji Asari Dokubo in the actualization of the Sustainable Development Goals in Nigeria.
