Breaking News: High Court Benin Orders Restoration of Local Government Chairmen and Vice Chairmen in Edo State,

The High Court in Benin City, Edo State, has today, December 20, 2024, granted an application to restore the Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of the Local Government Councils to their respective positions.

In a landmark ruling, the court also directed the defendants, including the Edo State Government (EDSG), the Governor of Edo State, and the Attorney General of Edo State, among others, not to give effect to the Edo State House of Assembly resolution purportedly suspending these officials.

This judgment marks a significant moment in the ongoing legal tussle regarding the autonomy of local government councils in the state.
