Egbema youth Political Alliance aka Society for individual freedom, (SIF), a youths group that has an alliance with the All Progressive Congress (APC), for DSP Ovie Omo-Agege for Governor of Delta state come 11th March 2023, Guber Poll, that advocates for good governance, has congratulated the Former chairman of Delta State Board of Internal Revenue (DBIR), and candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Delta South Senatorial District, Hon. Joel Onowakpo Thomas, has emerged victorious in the just concluded election on Saturday, February 25, 2023.
In a congratulatory message, yesterday, the group coordinator Comrade Michael Ejemi the National Public relation officer of Ajakurama development forum Worldwide, said Joel- Onowakpo's resounding victory across the wards and local Government Areas in the Delta south senatorial district of the state was an affirmation of his widely-acknowledged sterling performance during his consultation visits and campaigns.
Ejemi said: “Last Saturday, All Progressives Congress members in Asigborodor ward, Egbema kingdom, Warri North and Delta South senatorial district rose in their large numbers to exercise their democratic rights.
“They voted massively to give senator Joel- Onowakpo a clear mandate to win the senatorial seat of Delta south.
“Their decision was expressed in very unambiguous and unmistaken terms. On behalf of society for individual freedom, I wholeheartedly congratulate and rejoice with him,” he said.
Engr. Michael, National Public relation officer of Egbema youth council, said that Joel-onowakpa victory was also an expression of confidence the teeming party members in Delta south had in his ability and capacity to propel the senatorial to an even greater height in the national Assembly.
Michael Ejemi on behalf of the group commended the leadership and stakeholders of the party for ensuring the success of the general election and for effectively mobilizing its members to participate fully in the electoral process.
According to him, the party members also deserve praise for not only conducting themselves in an orderly manner but for ensuring that their choices are expressed freely, fairly and unreservedly.
He also applauded security officers for creating the environment, which enabled the general election to be conducted peacefully.
Michael said that Joel-onowakpa Thomas submitted himself to the people and people’s power had prevailed, adding that his commitment to democracy, non-violent elections, nation-building, loyalty to the party and party supremacy were particularly remarkable.
He said that, Hon. Michael Diden aka Ejele for the people democratic party PDP, and Hon. George Timinimi for the APGA who also contested, Delta south senatorial district seat should be commended for exercising their democratic franchise peacefully.
The Egbema Youth Group particularly applauded the Senatorial Returning Officer, Prof. Perekebina Anthony Bariweni, and team for conducted a peaceful an excellent job, announced Joel-Onowakpo as the winner on Tuesday at the Delta South Collation Centre in Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area.
The Announcing results, the Returning Officer for Delta South Senatorial election, Prof. Perekebina, said that the APC candidate, polled a total 49,955 votes while his closest rival, Hon Michael Diden of the People’s Democratic Party got 47,656 votes
Prof Perekebina, therefore declared Joe-Onowakpo Thomas as duly elected Senator-elect at the collation centre in Otobo Hall in Oleh.
Therefore we urged Joel Onowakpo's to extend a hand of fellowship to those who vied for the ticket along with him.
