Bill Gates-backed think-tank seeks $50bn for Africa’s loan scheme Emmanuel Addeh in Abuja The federal government has confirmed that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is being owed N20 trillion ($47 billion), which is yet to be added to the country’s outstanding public debt, according to a report by the Budget Office of the Federation.This is coming as a think-tank backed by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is seeking $50 billion in aid to help debt-ridden African countries re-enter capital markets and avoid future defaults. The debt figure was as of March 31, the Budget Office said, in a document, which gave the details of the country’s expenditure plans from 2023-2025.The document was posted on the Budget Office’s website at the weekend.Nigeria’s outstanding public debt is N41.6 trillion. By Sodiq Omolaoye, Abuja, Ahead of next month’s general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it has concluded plans to conduct a mock accreditation of voters across the country.  Chairman, INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu disclosed this at a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (REC) from the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Abuja.  According to him, the mock accreditation exercise, which would take place in about 436 polling units across the country, is aimed at testing the readiness of the Biomodial Voter Accreditations System (BVAS).  Yakubu said: “As you are already aware, the Commission has taken delivery of the BVAS machines for the election. Egbema Kingdom is bounded on the north by the Olodiama of Edo State and the Itsekiri of Delta State, west by the Arogbo Kingdom of Ondo State, east by Gbaramatu Kingdom and the Itsekiri of Delta State and South by the Ilaje of Ondo State and the Atlantic Ocean. The Egbema people are the most likely Ijo sub-group to which the allegation of Ijo piracy on the Benin River could have made.
