Burutu LG Poll: Ward 11 not marginalised, but have gotten council vice, chairman, PDP vice, reps for 3 terms, DESOPADEC director -Group
• Insists Ward 11 most politically fortuned ward
• Says Ward 11 demands to produce next council chairman is an insult on Burutu people, PDP
Our attention has been drawn to mischievous publications accredited to desperate persons and their cohorts in Burutu ward 11, stating that the ward is yet to produce Council chairman since the creation of the LGA.
We wish to state unequivocally that Burutu Ward 11 is not marginalised politically, and that the cry of the bird in the night can't kill the baby in the morning this time around.
The desperate and mischievous publications flying in the social media are not only meant to mislead but to attract undue public sympathy and favour from critical political stakeholders, governor of the State and members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Meanwhile, the Burutu leadership and the Peoples Democratic Party, are aware that a son of Ogulagha in ward 11, in the person of Chief Francis Bomiebi was elected as PDP vice chairman in Burutu LGA, secondly, Rt. Hon. Julius Pondi from ward 11 became leader of Burutu legislative arm.
Again, it is worthy of note that Hon. Combolos Ekisa was elected from the same ward 11, this time from Odimodi community to be vice chairman in the council for about 5years and following the appointment of the chairman, Godknows Angele, as commissioner for housing in the state, he was sworn in as chairman of the Council for over a year.
Going forward, the same Ward 11, Ogulagha community precisely, is currently holding the Burutu federal constituency seat for three consecutive terms now. This is invariably when he completes it, will be a consecutive 12 years tenure. In the history of Burutu no ward had ever enjoyed this privilege. Now what office is greater than that of the house of reps seat in Burutu, those shouting marginalisation in ward 11 should answer?.
It is also on record that a well refined son of Ogulagha Kingdom in ward 11, Ambassador Shedrack Agediga arose to the position of DESOPADEC board director, now chairman of Delta State Scholarship and Busary Board.
Is this greed or desperation for power?. Ward 11 seizes the house of reps seat for three terms despite there are many political wards in Burutu LGA that have not produced an house of reps member since the creation of Burutu LGA, and none of such wards are shouting neglect but are still happily supporting their son for three terms for house of the reps.
It is correct to state that ward 11 is marginalising other wards in Burutu for holding the house of representative seat in the LGA for three tenures.
Let it be stated clearly that the people of Burutu North have no intention of ceding to ward 11 the next council chairman.
It is our candid advice that the people of ward 11 shouldn't contest this forthcoming Burutu LGA chairmanship election for the sake of one united Burutu, peace and justice.
We expect them to be magnanimous enough to thank the people of Burutu and PDP for given them this rare opportunity to serve in different capacities for all these while.
Let's be our brother's keeper, we shouldn't allow greed to divide the already polarized council area and PDP any longer.
As people of Burutu, we can't progress with the mind set of having everything alone for myself.
So we urge ward 11 people who have the intention to contest the forthcoming LGA election to please leave the stage. Now that the ward 11 is still occupying the house of reps seat, let them leave the stage for other wards. By the time they are done with the house of reps, then they can talk about chairman.
We appeal to them not to intimidate and oppress other wards with the house of reps position they are currently enjoying for three terms.
Let's be forewarned that PDP is sitting on a gunpowder in Burutu LGA and let's not allow greed to perish and bury the party for the opposition in the LGA.
We, therefore called on Governor Sheriff Oborewori and PDP stakeholders in Burutu and Delta State to ignore and disregard all mischievous and misleading publications of marginalisation by suspected persons and their cohorts in Ward 11.
A word is enough for the wise. A stitch in time saves nine.
Signed
Mr Douye Samuel, spokesman,
Burutu North Coalition For Equity and Justice (BNCEJ)
