PRESS RELEASE

Delta 2026 Budget: Comrade Mingo Urges Governor Oborevwori to Prioritize Development Projects in Egbema Kingdom
The Niger Delta youth leader, Comrade Mingo Meshach Sayami Ogumaka, has called on the Executive Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Elder Olorogun Chief Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis M. Oborevwori, to ensure that critical development projects for Egbema Kingdom are fully captured in the proposed 2026 state budget.

Comrade Mingo, a leading advocate and one of the most consistent publishers of Governor Oborevwori’s developmental strides, emphasized that Egbema Kingdom has been repeatedly sidelined in previous budgets, despite its strategic importance and economic contribution to the state.

He noted that the administration of Dr. Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, through his Prosperity Agenda anchored on equity and fairness, was the first to give Egbema notable recognition by appointing two Egbema sons into DESOPADEC and producing the first Executive Chairman of Warri North Local Government Area from the kingdom. The Okowa administration also executed key projects, including the construction of the modern market at Oboro and other infrastructural developments across Warri North.

However, Comrade Mingo stated that the time has come for Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda to extend robust development to Egbema, describing the kingdom as one of the most underdeveloped despite being resource-rich.

He highlighted priority capital projects urgently needed in Egbema Kingdom: Construction of the Ogbinbiri–Ogbudugbudu Bridge to connect Opuama, Polobubo, and Asigborodor creating a direct access route between Egbema communities and Edo State and boosting regional trade and mobility.

Establishment of the Egbema University of Fisheries/Aquatic Studies, a development befitting the riverine, oil-rich nature of the kingdom.

Construction of a General Hospital in Asigborodor, where residents have suffered decades of health challenges due to the absence of medical facilities. The riverine community, bordering Edo and Ondo States, has no access road and depends solely on speedboats and canoes for transportation.

Comrade Mingo stressed that these projects are not mere requests but essential interventions to address decades of infrastructural neglect, deprivation, and marginalization.

He appealed to His Excellency Governor Oborevwori to treat the development needs of Egbema Kingdom as a matter of urgency and fairness in the spirit of inclusive governance.

Furthermore, he called on the Delta State House of Assembly to carefully consider and integrate these projects into the 2026 Appropriation Bill, noting that Egbema Kingdom in Warri North Local Government Area deserves equal developmental attention as other parts of the state.

Egbema has contributed immensely to the growth of Delta State. It is time for the state to reciprocate by bringing meaningful development to our kingdom,” Comrade Mingo stated.

He reaffirmed his belief in Governor Oborevwori’s capacity and commitment as the Working and Award-Winning Governor of the Year, urging him to write his name in history by transforming Egbema Kingdom through the 2026 budget. Open Letter fully Reads......

OPEN LETTER TO THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF DELTA STATE

Your Excellency, Elder Olorogun Chief Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis M. Oborevwori

On the Urgent Need to Prioritize Egbema Kingdom in the 2026 Delta State Budget

Your Excellency,

With deep respect and in the spirit of constructive engagement, I, Comrade Mingo Meshach Sayami Ogumaka, a Niger Delta youth leader and committed advocate of your administration’s developmental strides, write to draw your esteemed attention to the critical developmental needs of Egbema Kingdom as the state prepares the 2026 Appropriation Bill.

Your Excellency, Egbema Kingdom, a vital economic contributor to Delta State, has for many years suffered systematic marginalization and exclusion from major state development initiatives. Despite our contributions to the prosperity of the state, many of our communities remain underdeveloped, underserved, and cut off from basic infrastructure.

It is important to note that under the administration of Dr. Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, the Prosperity Agenda brought a turning point for our people through the appointment of two Egbema sons into DESOPADEC and the emergence of the first Executive Chairman of Warri North Local Government Area from the kingdom. The construction of the modern market in Oboro also stands today as evidence of what equity-driven governance can achieve.

However, Your Excellency, Egbema Kingdom still lags significantly behind in infrastructural development and social amenities. As the father of the state and champion of the MORE Agenda, we humbly appeal for your compassionate and visionary intervention through the 2026 State Budget.

Priority Projects for Inclusion in the 2026 Budget

1. Construction of the Ogbinbiri–Ogbudugbudu Bridge
This strategic bridge will connect Opuama, Polobubo, and Asigborodo, opening a direct route from Delta’s Egbema communities to Edo State. It will stimulate commerce, enable swift movement, and enhance security and development.

2. Establishment of the Egbema University of Fisheries/Aquatic Studies
Given our kingdom's riverine and oil-rich identity, this institution will create opportunities for education, research, employment, and regional growth.

3. Construction of a General Hospital in Asigborodo Community
The people of Asigborodo have endured decades without access to healthcare. As a riverine community bordering Edo and Ondo States, they rely solely on canoes and speedboats. A hospital is no longer a request—it is a lifesaving necessity.

Why These Projects Matter

Your Excellency, these projects represent justice, inclusion, and balanced development. Egbema people have shown unwavering support to successive governments in Delta State. What we ask for is not privilege but fairness—an opportunity for our kingdom to share in the benefits of belonging to Delta State.

As the Working and Award-Winning Governor of the Year, you have demonstrated exceptional passion for state-wide development. We firmly believe that with your leadership, Egbema Kingdom will receive the long-desired transformation it deserves.

Appeal to the Delta State House of Assembly

We also extend this appeal to the Honourable Members of the Delta State House of Assembly to ensure that Egbema’s developmental priorities are duly considered and reflected in the 2026 Appropriation Bill.

Conclusion

Your Excellency, as the father and leader of our dear state, we are confident in your commitment to justice, inclusiveness, and sustainable development. We humbly solicit your intervention to ensure that Egbema Kingdom is not left behind in the 2026 budget.

May your tenure continue to record historic achievements across Delta State.

With utmost respect,
Comrade Mingo Meshach Sayami Ogumaka
Niger Delta Youth Leader & Advocate for Good Governance
