Yenagoa — In a significant development ahead of the forthcoming national elections of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, the immediate past Acting President of Council and former Speaker of the 5th Mobile Parliament, Rt. Hon. Bob Collins Igete, has officially declared his intention to contest for the office of President.

Rt. Hon. Igete, accompanied by a strong delegation of supporters and political associates, stormed the Ijaw House in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, where he successfully purchased his nomination and interest forms amid widespread enthusiasm and solidarity from stakeholders.

The event, which attracted notable youth leaders, political figures, and supporters from across the Ijaw nation, marks a decisive step in what is expected to be a keenly contested race for the top leadership position of the foremost socio-cultural youth body.

Speaking shortly after obtaining the forms, Rt. Hon. Igete reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the unity, progress, and collective interests of Ijaw youths. He emphasized the need for visionary leadership, inclusiveness, and strategic engagement to reposition the Council for greater impact.

He noted that his decision to join the race is driven by a deep passion for service and a desire to consolidate on past achievements while introducing innovative reforms that will strengthen the structure and voice of the IYC both nationally and internationally.
