AN EARLY APPEAL TO GOVERNOR DOUYE DIRI: AN OPEN LETTER
Your Excellency, Governor Douye Diri,
I am compelled to write this open letter as a matter of urgent concern regarding the so-called "mega rally" being organized by a group operating under the name New Associates, Bayelsa State Chapter, allegedly in solidarity and appreciation of His Excellency, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike.
Sir, the entire world is aware of the ongoing turmoil in Rivers State and the highly offensive remarks made by Nyesom Wike, where he demeaned the Ijaw people, grouping us as a mere so-called minority tribe. This, Your Excellency, is an insult of the highest order to the proud and historically significant Ijaw nation.
It is crucial to recognize that Wikeโs visit to Bayelsa is not one of goodwill but a calculated attempt to undermine your authority and the collective dignity of the Izon people. The so-called New Associates are nothing more than a Trojan horseโan instrument Wike intends to implant in Bayelsa to sow discord and destabilize the state, just as he has done in Rivers. If left unchecked, this move could spiral into chaos, potentially inviting external intervention and leading to a declaration of a state of emergency, similar to the tense situation in Rivers State.
Your Excellency, Bayelsa State is not just any stateโit is the heart and capital of the Ijaw nation. Allowing Wike to waltz into our land for a rally, after his blatant disrespect for our people, would be a grievous affront to our collective identity. The gods of the land will not take it lightly, and neither will the people.
More importantly, Wikeโs intentions go beyond a mere rally. He seeks to exploit your political adversaries to create disorder, incite unrest, and weaken your leadership. Remember, Wike has openly declared his readiness to "deal with" any governor who stands in his way. As a member of the PDP Governorsโ Forum, you must act decisively and swiftly to prevent Bayelsa from becoming a battlefield for Wikeโs political manipulations.
This is not the time for complacency or political niceties. Wikeโs planned visit must be taken as a direct threat to the peace, unity, and stability of Bayelsa State. His so-called rally is nothing but a smokescreen for a larger, more sinister agenda.
Your Excellency, the responsibility falls on you to protect Bayelsa, the Izon nation, and your own legacy. Take immediate action to stop this dangerous gathering before it plunges our land into unnecessary chaos.
Yours faithfully,
Perekeme Fidelis Perekeme Jnr
A Concerned Ijaw Son and โna only me my mama n papa bornโ.
