Warri Delineation Exercise: Ijaw Storm FCT Abuja, Applaud INEC
By Egbemavoice,
The ongoing solidarity demonstration at the INEC Headquarters in Abuja by the Ijaws of the Warri Federal Constituency is a powerful and heartfelt expression of our collective gratitude to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This peaceful gathering reflects the unified voice of the Ijaw people, acknowledging INECโs commendable role as a fair and impartial institution committed to upholding the rule of law.
We are especially thankful for INECโs faithful implementation of the Supreme Courtโs judgment regarding the ward delineation in Warri Federal Constituency โ a matter of deep historical and political significance. The Courtโs decision corrected decades of imbalance and marginalization, ensuring the Ijaw population, long underrepresented despite their significant presence, now receives fair and just recognition.
The Supreme Court reaffirmed the principles of equity and fairness in representation, ordering a new delineation exercise that accurately reflects the constituencyโs demographic and geographic realities. INECโs prompt and transparent execution of this judgment, culminating in the recently published delineation results, marks a significant milestone in our democratic journey.
For the Ijaw people, this is more than an administrative act โ it is a symbolic restoration of justice, inclusion, and rightful representation in the political fabric of Warri Federal Constituency. Our presence in Abuja today is not in protest but in peace and gratitude โ to celebrate democracy, to commend INECโs integrity, and to reaffirm our identity as a peace-loving, law-abiding people.
As we offer our appreciation, we also reaffirm our commitment to unity, peaceful coexistence, and active engagement in the democratic process. This is a victory not just for the Ijaw people, but for justice, equity, and the enduring rule of law in Nigeria.
