Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has dissolved all statutory and non-statutory boards and commissions in the state.
The decision, announced in a press release on Thursday, 2nd October 2025, takes effect from Friday, 3rd October. The announcement was made by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah.
According to the statement, the governor acted under Section 6 of the Statutory Boards (Special Provisions) Law 2023. He thanked the chairmen and members of the affected boards for their contributions to his ARISE Agenda and wished them well in their future endeavours.
All former officials are directed to hand over government property in their possession to the most senior civil servant in their respective boards or commissions.
Caretaker News Now understands that the move comes at a time of rising political tension in Akwa Ibom State ahead of the 2027 general election. Governor Eno, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), is believed to be working quickly to consolidate his leadership by confirming loyalists in key positions.
