Don't Crucify Egbema People: know the facts.
For years now Egbema has not been in the news for any wrong reason because our people are very peaceful. However,in the in last few weeks many people from lmo state have been complaining about or castigating Egbema for saying they want exit lmo state.
People may blame us for not knowing our stories.
Many may blame us for not know what we the good people of Egbema are going through over the years.
Many are just interested in the economic importance of Egbema but not the people in that geographical enclave.
The former Ohaji Egbema and Oguta local government area is the known oil producing communities in lmo state.Infact,Imo state is in niger delta development commission because our people fought for the inclusion of lmo state in that commission.
We are like the proverbial golden geese that lays the golden egg in lmo state but the million dollar question remains how has successive governments in lmo state treated the people of these areas?
Take Egbema communities for instance, none enjoys electricity. Our roads are amongst the worst in South east. From Abacheke to Opuoma, from Obiakpu to Etekwuru, from Obokofia to Agwa it's all tale of woes, gnashing of teeths and groaning and mourning in pains.
Compare this scenario to some other communities in Orlu,Okigwe and Owerri zones that have no drop of oil but have good roads and electricity.
Before now Egbema think tank initiative did an open letter to his Excellency the Governor of lmo state to complain about our perceived marginalisation and an appeal to come to our rescue. Two or three years thereafter nothing has been done to exit us from this ugly scenario. No step was taken whatsoever to address these complaints but we read and watch roads being commissioned in lmo state every now and then.
Is it fair?
If it was your community or people won't you complain.
Let's do unto other what we will others do unto us.
What is good for the goose is good for the gander.
Let us not be economical with the truth because it is Egbema people today, your community may be at the receiving end tomorrow.
Let's be fair and unbiased in judging Egbema people's decision.
We are seriously subjected to acute mental and emotional torture under these prevailing circumstances.
We are not happy.
We feel raped,deprived and abandoned.
That is the feeling of every Egbema man or woman including the politicians, who may not have the guts to complain because of their transactional style of politicking.
Compare Egbema lmo to our brothers in River state, where they have good, super road network with steady electricity and you will undoubtedly conclude that they are in the biblical promise land while we are still awaiting our own Moses.
If you are from Egbema how would you feel under such prevailing circumstances?
If your people are treated as if they don't matter with their massive contributions over the years to the state economic base how would you feel?
That's the point and these are issues that are throwing up these our peaceful agitations and moves to exit lmo state.
We deserve a better treatment.
We respectfully urge the lmo state government under our amiable Governor to do the needful. If his Excellency wills, there will be away to intervene and fix these complaints. Our Governor has the capacity to address these.
Fellow lmolites,Egbema in lmo state deserves a better deal.
We deserve good roads, electricity and other infrastructures meant to uplift the lives of our people.
lt is not too much to demand for these things.
Is it?
God bless lmo State.
God bless Egbema.
