Athletes Storm Idjerhe Kingdom as Monarch Partners With D’Life Dynasty to Host First-Ever Otorho-Idjerhe Marathon

It was a historic and colourful day in Jesse Town, Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, as athletes from across Nigeria converged on Idjerhe Kingdom for the maiden edition of the Otorho-Idjerhe Marathon, organised in collaboration between the Idjerhe Traditional Council and D’Life Dynasty.
The event, which marked the first of its kind in the kingdom, attracted a large turnout of sports enthusiasts, cultural groups, and distinguished personalities from within and outside Delta State.
His Royal Majesty, the Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, widely respected as one of the most revered monarchs in Urhobo Nation, warmly received dignitaries and participants. The monarch commended the impressive attendance and applauded the organisers for promoting unity, youth empowerment, and community development through sports.

Winners of the marathon smiled home with cash prizes and cheques, adding excitement to an already vibrant celebration in the kingdom.

The Otorho-Idjerhe Marathon is expected to become an annual sporting festival aimed at showcasing local talent and strengthening the cultural identity of the Idjerhe people.

Nigeria fails in their quest to qualify for the world cup,

By EgbemaVoice, Nigeria super eagles suffered a major setback in their bid to qualify for the world cup billed to hold in Canada, Mexico and US. The dream of making it to the intercontinental playoffs was halted by a disciplined and highly focused DR Congo team. Nigeria had taken the lead early on via Frank Onyeka but grew complacent as the game went on with DR Congo pressing and eventually getting their reward in the 32nd minute. The game will go on into extra time and then penalties with DR Congo eventually becoming victorious in the shootout. The defeat is a tale of missed opportunities and unseriousness which Nigerians have seen before even during the qualifying stages. This will mean that Nigeria has failed to qualify for the world cup consecutively. Moral lesson: Determination, Focus and Seriousness brings results, something the Nigerian national team is lacking.
