PDP NEC Drops the Hammer: Makinde, Bala Mohammed, Bode George, Others Expelled — State EXCOs in Oyo, Bauchi, Ekiti, Lagos, Zamfara, Yobe Dissolved
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has entered one of its most dramatic phases yet, as its National Executive Committee (NEC) has confirmed the expulsion of several high-profile members, including sitting governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), and Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), alongside party heavyweights like Bode George, Adolphus Wabara, and others.
The decision was announced today at the 103rd NEC meeting held at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja.
According to the Acting National Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman, the expulsions came after the affected members allegedly disobeyed court orders, participated in an unauthorized convention, and engaged in actions that “brought the party into disrepute.”
NEC also dissolved the State Executive Councils in Bauchi, Oyo, Zamfara, Yobe, Lagos, and Ekiti, directing the NWC to immediately set up caretaker committees and conduct fresh congresses.
The official communiqué, read by National Secretary Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, highlighted the following:
🔹 Members were expelled for violating Articles 58(1) and 59(1) of the PDP Constitution
🔹 NEC condemned factional activities that triggered nationwide defections
🔹 Deputies of expelled NWC members were directed to take over in acting capacity
🔹 NEC ratified Mohammed Abdulrahman as Acting National Chairman
🔹 Legal action will begin immediately to recover seats of elected officials who defected
🔹 A nationwide reconciliation and membership revalidation exercise will begin ahead of 2027
NEC emphasized that the “era of indiscipline is over”, adding that the PDP must return to strict obedience to its constitution to regain public confidence.
Party leaders expressed hope that the PDP will overcome its internal crisis and emerge stronger.
What do you think — is this the beginning of the PDP’s revival or a deeper split?
