US Military Threat: What the United States Can Do,__ Nigerians, Listen Up
By EgbemaVoice Editorial Board
Iran is one of the most powerful nations in the world. Yet, when the United States struck Iran’s nuclear sites, they did so without consulting anyone — and no country dared to challenge them. No sanctions, no global outrage. They acted and returned safely, mission completed.
Now, some Nigerians are saying, “The US has no right to enter Nigeria!” But let’s face reality: if the United States believes there is a genocide or massive killing going on, they have the power — and the global justification — to intervene. And truthfully, no one can stop them.
Let’s be clear: it’s not that they would come to destroy Nigeria or bomb innocent civilians. If they ever intervene, their target would be terrorist hideouts, not ordinary Nigerians. They would strike, neutralize the threats, and leave — mission accomplished.
Some Nigerians fear that such intervention could be about our oil or natural resources. But let’s be honest: in recent years, the US has not invaded any country to steal resources. They come for a purpose — often humanitarian or security-driven — complete their mission, and withdraw.
So the question remains:
Do we, as Nigerians, want to continue enduring over two decades of unending terrorist attacks, mass killings, and insecurity with no lasting solution?
Our nation is bleeding. Our people are tired. The cry for peace echoes from every region — from the North-East to the Middle Belt, from Benue to Borno, from Plateau to Kaduna. If the world’s most powerful nation can help end this long nightmare, should we reject that help simply out of pride?
What Nigerians want is simple — peace.
Peace to farm again, to go to church or mosque without fear, to send our children to school safely, and to rebuild our destroyed communities.
No matter who brings that peace — whether through diplomacy, humanitarian aid, or international intervention — what matters is that Nigeria can finally breathe again.
