Revd Waive Extols Oborevwori’s Leadership in Peaceful APC Congresses,

By EgbemaVoice,

The Honourable Member representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Revd Francis Ejiroghene Waive, has commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for what he described as his exemplary leadership in the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) congresses across the state.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after the successful State Congress held in Asaba, the state capital, Revd Waive praised the governor for his “apt management” of the exercise, which began at the ward level and culminated in the state congress.

The congresses were conducted across the 270 wards and 25 local government areas of Delta State before culminating in the state-level gathering.

According to Waive, Governor Oborevwori ensured that party leaders at every level were given the freedom to determine their executive members, starting from the ward level through to the local government and state levels.

He noted that in areas where disagreements arose, the governor intervened to mediate and foster amicable resolutions without bias.

“In areas where there were issues, His Excellency mediated to achieve peaceful resolutions without having any dog in any fight. This is statesmanship. This is leadership. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is the deal,” Waive stated.

The federal lawmaker further disclosed that during the State Caucus meeting preceding the State Congress, members had urged the governor, as leader of the party in the state, to exercise his prerogative in choosing the State Chairman.

However, Waive said Governor Oborevwori declined to impose any candidate, insisting instead that party stakeholders meet at zonal levels to agree on a sharing formula and consult widely before presenting names for various positions, in line with the consensus method of conducting congresses.

“We spent over one hour persuading His Excellency that as the leader of the party in the state, he had the prerogative to choose the State Chairman. He insisted that we meet as zones to come up with a sharing formula and thereafter consult our people back home before arriving at names,” he said.

Revd Waive, who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business, described the exercise as the most peaceful congress in the history of the APC in Delta State.

He attributed the success of the process to what he termed the governor’s selfless leadership and effective management of party affairs.

The lawmaker added that the outcome of the congresses has strengthened party unity and positioned the APC in Delta State for greater electoral success in the 2027 general elections.

He called on party faithful to remain united and committed to the party’s goals, urging them to support Governor Oborevwori and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in advancing the Renewed Hope for MORE Agenda.
