Omo, history is really a scary place! 
If you think you’ve heard it all about the 1976 coup that claimed the life of the legendary General Murtala Muhammed, then you need to sit down for this one.

A vintage cover of P.M. News (August 2006) has resurfaced, and it’s shaking the table of Nigeria’s military history. 

Hajia Sufiya Vatsa, the widow of the late General Mamman Vatsa, isn't holding anything back. 
She has come out with a heavy allegation that could change how we see the "Evil Genius" himself, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB).

According to Hajia Sufiya, IBB was allegedly one of the masterminds behind the February 13, 1976 coup led by Buka Suka Dimka.
Wait, let that sink in. 

For years, the official story was that IBB was the "hero" who walked into Radio Nigeria unarmed to talk Dimka out of the coup. 

But Sufiya Vatsa is singing a different tune. 
She claims:
• IBB was deep in the plans that led to Murtala's assassination.
• Her husband, Mamman Vatsa, was "unjustly" executed by IBB in 1986 (ten years later) because he knew too many secrets.
• She’s calling for a full investigation, saying IBB "opened a can of worms" that he can't close.

The Dimka coup is one of the darkest days in Nigeria. 
Murtala Muhammed was a national hero, and the man who succeeded him, Olusegun Obasanjo, relied heavily on IBB to stabilize the army. 

If these allegations were ever proven true, it would mean the very people who "saved" the government were part of the group that tried to destroy it.

Revenge or Truth?

Many people say Sufiya Vatsa is only saying this because IBB signed her husband's death warrant in 1986 over another coup plot. 

They call it "bitterness." But others say, "In every rumor, there is a grain of truth."

Court Bars Turaki-Led NWC From PDP National Secretariat

By EgbemaVoice Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court Abuja, has restrained the Kabiru Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC) from gaining access into the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja. Justice Abdulmalik made the order while delivering judgment in a suit instituted by a group of the party loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike. Justice Abdulmalik also ordered security agencies, including the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Department of State Services (DSS), among others, to give adequate protection to the PDP led by Abdulrahman Mohammed while accessing the secretariat.
