Polobubo Community Jubilates As Gov. Sheriff Ordered Conversion Of Cottage Hospital To General Hospital, and Recruitment of Staff,

.,....Polobubo Community Urges Gov. Oborevwori to Fast-Track Tsekelewu Hospital Rehabilitation,

By EgbemaVoice,

The Polobubo (Tsekelewu) Community in Warri North, Delta State, has applauded Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for directing the rehabilitation, staffing, and upgrade of the Tsekelewu Cottage Hospital to a General Hospital. However, community leaders expressed concern over the slow pace of implementation despite three official assessment visits between May and July 2025.

They noted that since the withdrawal of staff by the Delta State Contributory Health Scheme in July, the hospital has remained unmanned and vulnerable to vandalism, worsening the community’s healthcare crisis.

The community, led by President-General Dr. Bright Abulu and Secretary-General Rev. Clement Tiemo, appealed to the governor to urgently intervene and ensure full takeover, renovation, staffing, and equipping of the facility to save lives and deliver the promised healthcare improvements under the MORE Agenda.

POLOBUBO (TSEKELEWU) COMMUNITY JUBILATES OVER TSEKELEWU COTTAGE HOSPITAL REHABILITATION AND STAFF RECRUITMENT DIRECTIVE BY GOVERNOR SHERIFF OBOREVWORI - CALLING FOR FULL IMPLEMENTATION OF THIS LIFE-CHANGING PROMISE.,

Your Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State.

We, the representatives of the good people of Polobubo (Tsekelewu) Community of Warri North Local Government Area express our gratitude to you for the prompt response to our request to rehab and make the Tsekelewu cottage hospital functional. Your directive to take over the Tsekelewu cottage hospital, rehabilitate, recruit staff, and upgrade it to a General Hospital was met with jubilation and hope for quality healthcare in our great oil and gas producing community and the surrounding oil and gas producing riverine communities in Warri North LGA.

We are compelled to bring to your attention that despite your directive, little progress has been made in the rehabilitation and recruitment of staff to make the Tsekelewu Cottage Hospital functional. Therefore, Your Excellency, there is an urgent need for your intervention to save the lives of our people.

Regrettably, despite three assessment visits (May 31, June 23, and July 11, 2025) by officials from the Delta State Ministry of Health, Housing, Works, and Water Resources to the Tsekelewu  Cottage  Hospital based on your explicit directives, has not yielded significant progress on the rehabilitation and recruitment of staff for the Tsekelewu Cottage Hospital to make it functional, leaving our people vulnerable to avoidable deaths and suffering. In addition, since the Delta State Contributory Pension Scheme withdrew its staff in July 2025  because of the transfer of the Tsekelewu Cottage Hospital to the Delta State Hospital Management Board for effective and efficient delivery of health care services to our suffering people, the hospital has been left unmanned, without even security personnel, exposing it to theft and vandalism.

The lack of progress in the takeover of this hospital is exacerbating the healthcare crisis, and we fear that the situation will worsen in the days and weeks ahead if immediate action is not taken.

We humbly plead with Your Excellency to intervene and expedite the takeover process, ensuring the rehabilitation, staffing, and equipping of the hospital to provide essential healthcare services and bring succour to our great oil and gas producing community (Tsekelewu) and other surrounding oil and Gas producing communities in Warri North LGA.

We believe in your commitment to the MORE Agenda and trust that you will act swiftly to restore hope to our people.

Signed:

Dr. Bright Abulu (PhD)
President-General, Polobubo (Tsekelewu) Community

Rev. Clement Tiemo (JP+)
Secretary-General, Polobubo (Tsekelewu) Community

Ajakurama Development Initiative Rebukes Edo Deputy Governor Over Misleading Claims on Abere–Ajakurama Land Dispute,

PRESS STATEMENT Ajakurama Development Initiative Condemns Edo State Deputy Governor’s Careless and Misleading Remarks on Abere–Ajakurama Land Dispute The Ajakurama Development Initiative (ADI) strongly condemns the recent remarks made by the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, regarding the long-standing land dispute between the Abere and Ajakurama communities. This dispute, earlier in 2025, resulted in violent attacks, severe persons injuries sustained by Ajakurama youths. During a peace meeting held at the Government House, Benin City, the Deputy Governor urged both communities to “embrace peace,” while asserting that the disputed land forms part of the Government’s Forest Reserve. ADI considers this statement careless, provocative, and a deliberate distortion of historical and traditional facts. It attempts to undermine the ancestral ownership rights of both Ijaw communities and misinform the general public. OUR POSITION 1. The Land Belongs to Ajakuram...

By Egbemavoice, THE IJAW YOUTH COUNCIL (IYC) EGBEMA CLAN (EGBEMA KINGDOM) IN EDO STATE EXPRESS REGRET OVER SUPPORT FOR DEPUTY GOVERNOR HON. DENNIS IDAHOSA FOLLOWING THE ABERE AND AJAKURAMA LAND DISPUTE The IYC Egbema Clan of Edo State, (Egbema Kingdom) under the leadership of Comr. Engr. Lawoni Dumofaye the Egbema Clan Chairman, issue this statement with deep disappointment and a profound sense of betrayal. Our people stood firmly behind Deputy Governor Hon. Dennis Idahosa during his election, believing he would act as a voice of justice and a defender of truth. However, his recent comments on the Abere and Ajakurama land judgement have proven to be lacking in fairness, historical accuracy, and respect for the communities that gave him their mandate. The judgement in question is not just a legal matter, it is an attempt to distort the truth of our ancestry and undermine our heritage. Instead of defending justice, the Deputy Governor made statements that dismiss...
