We express our heartfelt appreciation to the Ijaw nation for its support for the impressive and flawless hosting of the 2nd annual Ijaw media conference 2025, at KFT event centre, Warri, Delta State, Nigeria.

Again, we give all glory, honour, and thanksgiving to God Almighty for His grace, wisdom, guidance and provisions for making this year's conference impactful, peaceful, impeccable and highly rewarding.

We sincerely appreciate all the distinguished personalities and dignitaries for their presence, support, and invaluable contributions, which collectively ensured the success of this year's historic gathering.

We express our deep gratitude to Ambassador Dr. Godknows Boladei Igali, President of PANDEF and Keynote Speaker, whose far-reaching intellectual depth and visionary engagement on the Theme: "Safeguarding Niger Delta’s Natural Resources for Future Generations" helped redefine perspectives and reposition the mindset of Ijaw publishers toward responsible and developmental journalism.

Our profound appreciation goes to Chief Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro, PhD, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme and Chairman of the Occasion, not only for his inspiring leadership insights but also for his generous financial support, which significantly contributed to the successful delivery of the conference. His intervention sharpened the resolve of publishers to uphold advocacy, accountability, and sustainability.

We gratefully acknowledge Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Special Guest of Honour, for his impactful address and financial support, which reinforced the strategic role of the media in governance, legislation, and regional development.

We extend our deep respect and appreciation to the Royal Father of the Day, His Royal Majesty, Pere Luke Kalanama VIII, Pere of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom and First Vice Chairman of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, who even not present due to other engagements but sends his prayers, fatherly guidance, and moral support, which added dignity, cultural depth, and authority to the conference.

We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Father of the day, High Chief Tunde Smooth, Bolouwei of the Niger Delta, whose financial contribution and moral encouragement added great value to the conference and underscored his commitment to the progress of the Ijaw nation.

We equally appreciate High Chief Godspower Gbenekama, the Fiyewei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, and also, Barr. 
Lyna Ocholor, Principal Secretary to the governor of Delta State 
for their timely financial assistance and unwavering support toward making the conference a remarkable success. We appreciate Chief Promise Lawuru and other top leaders for their presence at the event. Please pardon us for any omission as time and space may not permit us to mention the names of all dignitaries.

However, the collective wisdom shared by Ambassador Dr. Godknows Boladei Igali, Chief Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro, PhD, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, and Engr. Udengs Eradiri, Former President of the Ijaw Youth Council and Lead Speaker, profoundly sharpened and reshaped the mindset of publishers and the Ijaw people at large. 

We equally thank the Ijaw National Congress, INC, which was ably represented by its spokesman, Sir Izonebi Oyakemeagbegha and the Western zone charter. We appreciate the Ijaw Youths Council, Western zone for their massive presence.

It is therefore not surprising that IPF has received widespread commendation for conceptualizing and successfully hosting such a timely and impactful conference.
We sincerely thank all traditional rulers, elders, youth organizations, professional bodies, media practitioners, civil society groups, and individuals who took time out to attend the conference at the KFT Event Centre, Warri, Delta State. Your presence added strength, credibility, and meaning to the programme. We pray that may God Almighty bless and replenish you all for standing by the Ijaw Publishers' Forum.

Alleged Extrajudicial Killing by Police Officer Sparks Outrage in Effurun,

According to human rights advocate Harrison Gwamnishu, the officer identified as Usman Nuhu—attached to the Area Command—has been linked to the incident. Nuhu, who reportedly previously served in the now-disbanded SARS unit, is alleged to have a history of misconduct, including multiple accusations of excessive force and extrajudicial actions. Sheriff Oborevwori, has condemned in the strongest terms the unwarranted and unprovoked killing of a defenceless youth, Mena Otidi by a police officer, ASP Nuhu Usman. According to the Command, operatives attached to Area Command Effurun acted on credible intelligence concerning the deceased, who was allegedly intercepted while attempting to waybill a parcel containing a Beretta pistol with four rounds of ammunition. During the operation, the team leader, ASP Nuhu Usman, reportedly discharged his firearm in violation of Force Order 237 and Nigeria Police Standard Operating Procedures, resulting in the suspect’s death. FORCE LEADERSHIP ORDERS DISMISSAL, PROSECUTION OF OFFICERS INVOLVED IN EFFURUN SHOOTING The Nigeria Police Force hereby provides an update on the disciplinary actions taken following the fatal shooting incident of 26th April 2026 in Effurun, Delta State, which resulted in the death of Mr Mene Ogidi.
