The Niger Delta Youth Leader, Comrade Mingo Friday Meshach Sayami Ogumaka, has commiserated with the people of the Niger Delta on the one-year remembrance of the passing of the region’s legendary hero, High Chief Senator Dr. Edwin Clark Kiagbodo OON, CON, former PANDEF Chairman and elder statesman, on 17th February.
Comrade Mingo described the late Edwin Clark as a “selfless leader whose commitment to the Niger Delta and its people remains unmatched.” According to him, even after going to rest, Edwin Clark’s influence continues to resonate across the region, as his life’s work and vision remain alive in the hearts of the people.
He added: “The Niger Delta continues to miss a hero who championed the cause of resource control, regional development, and social justice. He was a bridge-builder, a relentless advocate for the rights of our people, and a symbol of courage and integrity. Leaders like him never truly die; they live on through the values and legacy they leave behind.”
Edwin Clark’s contributions to the Niger Delta span decades. He played a pivotal role in advocating for the region’s development, fighting for the recognition of its oil and gas resources, and mentoring generations of leaders committed to social and political justice. As a former PANDEF Chairman, he tirelessly championed unity among the Niger Delta states, ensuring that the struggles of the people were heard at the highest levels of government.
Beyond politics, Clark was celebrated for his role as a unifying elder statesman, often mediating conflicts and providing guidance during critical moments in the Niger Delta’s history. His life exemplified service over self, and his unwavering dedication has inspired countless youths and leaders across the region.
Comrade Mingo urged the younger generation to honor Edwin Clark’s memory by embracing his values, continuing the fight for equitable resource control, and working toward a peaceful and prosperous Niger Delta.
“One year gone, but his legacy remains mighty. His vision for a united, empowered, and respected Niger Delta continues to guide us,” Mingo affirmed.
Edwin Clark’s life is a reminder that true heroes never leave; their ideals, actions, and inspiration live on, shaping the present and future of the communities they fought for.
