Udo-Ofunama Road: Why NDDC Disappointed Egbema Kingdom

By EgbemaVoice,

The Egbema Focus Group (EFG) has expressed deep disappointment over the deplorable state of the Udo-Ofunama Road, a vital project awarded by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) seven years ago but left abandoned. Materials and equipment remain deserted at the project site, leaving the road in a state of disrepair.

Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, Comrade Mingo Meshach Saya Ogumaka condemned the negligence that has forced communities, clans, and individuals within the Egbema Kingdom to pool resources to grade the road themselves just to maintain access to their towns and ensure survival. He emphasized that this self-help effort is unacceptable for a kingdom that is a major contributor to Nigeria's oil and gas economy and a host to numerous multi-billion-dollar oil companies.

Comrade Mingo further noted that the abandonment of the Udo-Ofunama Road project has left the Egbema Kingdom deeply disappointed in the NDDC. He called on the current NDDC leadership, under the MD/CEO NDDC, Mr. Samuel Ogbuku, to urgently revisit and prioritize the completion of this crucial project, which is essential for the survival and development of the Egbema Kingdom in Edo State. He said,
