PIPELINE SURVEILLANCE CONTRACT: COMRADE EBIWARE OWOLO BACKS TOMPolo, WARNS AGAINST DIVISIVE AGITATIONS IN IJAW NATION
The attention of Chief Ebiware Owolo, popularly known as Agbalakoko, Executive Chairman of Obotobo I Federated Community in Ogulagha Kingdom, has been drawn to ongoing agitations and campaigns by certain individuals and groups calling for the termination and decentralization of the pipeline surveillance contract currently handled by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited.
Comrade Owolo expresses deep concern over these agitations, describing them as unnecessary, divisive, and detrimental to the collective progress and unity of the Ijaw nation and the Niger Delta at large.
He firmly aligns with the position of High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpomupolo (Tompolo), emphasizing that the prevailing narrative driven by some ex-agitators reflects a dangerous “pull-down syndrome” that must be discouraged in the interest of regional stability and development.
According to him, the pipeline surveillance contract has significantly contributed to improved security of oil facilities, reduction in pipeline vandalism, and enhanced crude oil production—achievements that should be consolidated rather than undermined.
Comrade Owolo therefore calls on all well-meaning stakeholders, leaders, and youths of the Niger Delta to desist from actions and utterances capable of inciting disunity, and instead support initiatives that promote peace, economic growth, and sustainable development in the region.
He further urges the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to disregard calls from those seeking to politicize or disrupt the existing surveillance framework, noting that such demands do not reflect the collective interest of the people of the Niger Delta.
Comr. Owolo reiterates the need for unity among Ijaw leaders and ex-agitators, stressing that internal discord only weakens the region’s voice and undermines its ability to secure lasting benefits for its people.
Signed:
Comrade Ebiware Owolo (Agbalakoko)
Executive Chairman, Obotobo I Federated Community
Ogulagha Kingdom
