The leadership of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Egbema Clan, under the able leadership of Comr. Engr. Lawoni Dumofaye, strongly condemns in its entirety the gruesome and barbaric killing of four persons at Late Brandly Camp, Abiala, near the Ologbo River area along the corridor in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.
This unfortunate and heartbreaking incident is not only inhumane but also a direct threat to the peace, unity, and stability that the people of Egbema Kingdom and neighbouring communities have worked tirelessly to maintain over the years. The IYC views this dastardly act as unacceptable, condemnable, and capable of creating unnecessary tension and unrest within the affected communities.
We deeply sympathize with the bereaved families, relatives, friends, and loved ones of the victims who lost their lives in this tragic occurrence. We pray that God grants the departed souls eternal rest and gives their families the strength and fortitude to bear this painful and irreparable loss.
The Ijaw Youth Council, Egbema Clan, passionately appeals to the affected families, youths, and members of the communities to remain calm and law-abiding and to resist every temptation of revenge or retaliation. At this critical moment, reprisals or acts of vengeance will only worsen the already fragile situation and further endanger innocent lives and properties.
The Council wishes to assure the people that efforts are already ongoing by the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), community leadership, elders, traditional rulers, Chiefs-in-Council, and other critical stakeholders to put in place necessary modalities and peaceful mechanisms aimed at restoring lasting peace, unity, and security across the affected communities.
We also call on relevant security agencies and government authorities to immediately carry out a thorough investigation into the incident, ensure that the perpetrators are identified, arrested, and brought to justice in accordance with the law. Justice must prevail to serve as a deterrent to others who may contemplate such evil acts against humanity.
The Ijaw Youth Council remains committed to the protection of lives and properties, peaceful coexistence, and the advancement of harmony among all ethnic nationalities and residents within the Egbema axis and beyond.
We urge all youths to continue to embrace peace, dialogue, and lawful means of conflict resolution while supporting ongoing efforts by community leaders and security agencies to restore normalcy.
