2023: Agege, Delta APC Bereft Of Ideas - Okowa's EAC....Says Thugs And Mace Runners Cannot Be Trusted With State Affairs.

By EgbemaVoice,

Gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has again been described as a man with weak morals and bereft of leadership qualities and transformational ideas.

The assertion was contained in a statement on Sunday 19th June, by the Executive Assistant to Delta State Governor on Communications, Olorogun Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, in swift reaction to a statement by Agege's campaign media in respect of the choice of Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa as Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Oghenesivbe noted that since Senator Ovie Agege emerged as Delta APC candidate for the 2023 election, he has been very cold, politically unproductive and unable to articulate his electioneering manifesto, rather the outgoing senator has been roaming about interfering in the internal affairs of PDP, which connotes he has nothing tangible to offer the good people of Delta State, as APC Governorship candidate.

Okowa's Eac and Chairman, Coalition for Media Politics and Governance, CMPG, further observed that the low intellectual acumen of Senator Agege coupled with his unscrupulous lifestyle and unfulfilled electioneering promises led to the mass resignation of his media aides and senior legislative assistants, adding that no right thinking Deltan would associate himself or herself with a political rascal and alleged mace runner.

Oghenesivbe asserted that though the Southern governors agreed on a Southern Presidential candidate for  2023 election, such agreement was subject to decisions of their respective political parties, pointing out that PDP decided to open the presidential race for her members without zoning, so as to field the best and most popular candidate to win the 2023 presidential election.

"Governor Okowa is a politician and cannot operate outside the rules of the game set out by his party, PDP. He is a loyal party man and will remain loyal throughout his political career because party is supreme.

"While the APC decided to technically zone Presidency to Southern Nigeria, PDP preferred open contest in the spirit of national unity, sincerity of purpose and to enable the best and most popular candidate emerge to win election for the party.

"At the end of the internal race, our amiable presidential candidate and former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar emerged and his victory was applauded nationwide.

"it's therefore mischievous and laughable for Senator Agege and his epileptic campaign organisation or anybody for that matter to refer to Okowa as a betrayal. It doesn't add up and obviously uncalled for.

"Governor Okowa's emergence as the Vice Presidential candidate of PDP, received widespread ovation and acceptance due largely to his visionary leadership, positive and result oriented political craftsmanship at state and national levels, verified team spirit and legislative competence, patriotism, good governance strides and his love for our country - Nigeria, et al.

"Every political party adopted various strategies in the ongoing electioneering process and members of these parties played along, including members of PDP, and Governor Okowa cannot afford to be a lone ranger as a loyal party man and an experienced grassroot politician.

"Governor Okowa, the Vice President in-waiting did what was right and best for this country and our great party, PDP.  He shall continue to align himself with whatever plans and strategies that will make Nigeria great again.

"Agege and his intellectually lazy media aides and weak campaign structure should wake up from their deep slumber and face political realities, rather than lazy about.

"Mischievous thugs and sagacious mace runners cannot be trusted with Delta State affairs," Oghenesivbe added.

N-Delta Civil Society Forum Faults N141.36bn Derivation Payouts to States, Seeks Direct Benefit for Oil-Producing Areas,

By EgbemaVoice, The Niger Delta Civil Society Forum (NDCSF), a coalition of civil society organisations drawn from Delta, Edo, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross River, Ondo and other states in the oil-rich region, has stoutly condemned the payment of N141.36 billion being 13% derivation funds to state governments in the October 2025 revenue allocation, describing the practice as "unconstitutional, unjust, and detrimental to the welfare of oil-producing communities". According to the Forum, Section 162(2) of the 1999 Constitution clearly mandates the 13% derivation as compensation for resource-bearing communities that suffer environmental degradation, land depletion, pollution, loss of livelihoods, and other socio-economic hardships resulting from oil, gas, and mineral exploration. The Forum expressed deep dissatisfaction over the continued transfer of derivation funds to state governments despite decades of alleged mismanagement, non-transparency, and failure to d...

EgbemaVoice Editorial Board: Nigeria’s Worsening Insecurity Requires Decisive Federal Action Nigeria is once again confronted with a troubling wave of insecurity that continues to claim innocent lives across several northern states. Reports of attacks, kidnappings, and violence carried out by armed groups — including bandits and extremist elements — have left many communities devastated. Christian communities in parts of Kebbi, Kwara, Plateau, Kaduna, and Borno, among others, have suffered repeated assaults, raising national and international concern. Security personnel — the Nigerian Army, Police, Air Force, and other frontline agencies — continue to bear the brunt of these conflicts. Many of the junior officers who risk their lives daily are underpaid, overstretched, and sent into extremely hostile territories with limited support. Their sacrifices deserve recognition, protection, and meaningful improvement in welfare. At the same time, the public continues to...

Nigeria fails in their quest to qualify for the world cup,

By EgbemaVoice, Nigeria super eagles suffered a major setback in their bid to qualify for the world cup billed to hold in Canada, Mexico and US. The dream of making it to the intercontinental playoffs was halted by a disciplined and highly focused DR Congo team. Nigeria had taken the lead early on via Frank Onyeka but grew complacent as the game went on with DR Congo pressing and eventually getting their reward in the 32nd minute. The game will go on into extra time and then penalties with DR Congo eventually becoming victorious in the shootout. The defeat is a tale of missed opportunities and unseriousness which Nigerians have seen before even during the qualifying stages. This will mean that Nigeria has failed to qualify for the world cup consecutively. Moral lesson: Determination, Focus and Seriousness brings results, something the Nigerian national team is lacking. Congrats to Democratic Republic of Congo
