THE HAPPIEST AND A DAY OF FULFILLMENT FOR ALABO EDI-ABALI; A JOURNEY STARTED 30 YEARS AGO, HAS MATERIALIZED TODAY,

As a young man and member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari like his peers and elders alike has so much hope that emergence of the flagbearer of his party Chief M.K.O Abiola as President of Nigeria will bring the earnestly expected transition to democracy, much needed development, the dire desired social change and much more however, that hope was scuttled but not defeated.

Inspite of the fact, that the military led by General Sani Abacha arrested the President-Elect Chief Abiola, dissolved the political parties and declared a *"Provisional Ruling Council of the Armed Forces of Nigeria",* the Golden Leopard, the Supreme Leader and the Defender of the Realm did not capitulate rather he kept hope alive which led to the creation of a pro-democratic organisation to fight against the Military Junta for the re-enthronement of democracy in Nigeria called National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) on the 15th of May 1994.

His Excellency Sen. Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu became the Principal Consort while Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari at the age of between 28/29 years became the Head of Operations fighting to regain the scuttled democracy. This cause and struggle saw Bola Tinubu forced in to exile while the Golden Leopard was arrested severally both within and outside Nigeria nevertheless, all the series of arrests and persecution did not deter him and he never capitulated until 1999 when Democracy was restored however, the Military made Chief Olusegun Obasanjo President to spite the NADECO Movement still, Asiwaju influence reigned supreme in the South-West which less to Alliance For Democracy clinching the entire South-West as such Obasanjo was seen not as a Yotuba-President.

The relationship between the Principal Consort and Head of Operations continued and while Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari continued to advocate for good governance, infrastructural and social development in Nigeria including the enforcement of the democratic rights of all federating units as it was under the 1960 Constitution which led to the "Reawakening of the Modern Day Ijaw Struggle" in 1998 and the propounding of the slogan *_"Resources Control and Self-determination By Any Means Necessary"_* which paved the way for greater consciousness of the rights of all peoples in Nigeria and when the dark day came, when President Olusegun Obasanjo arrested the Golden Leopard, His Excellency Sen. Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu rose to the occasion and did the needful for his Strongest Ally from the South-South of Nigeria.

Consequently, when His Excellency Sen. Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu announced his aspiration to be President, the Golden Leopard rose to the occasion for he knew the sign of the times that the time to crown the efforts of the Struggle to Re-Ethrone Democracy has comehebce, he did everything possible within his circle, his power and his strength to see Asiwaju succeed. Therefire reigns of the affairs of Nigeria being handed over to His Excellency Sen. Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu at Eagle Square, Abuja made the Golden Leopard to shed tears of joy for it is his happiest day on Earth as a Man because it is a day in which the Struggles of Democrats across Nigeria was truly fulfilled and he remains hopeful that the Administration of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu will do better and will cater for the worries of Nigerians.

God bless His Excellency Sen. Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

God bless Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari Alabo Edi-Abali Abalagburugburu of Kalabari Kingdom.

God bless Nigeria and Nigerians.

I remain,

Rt Hon. Gabriel Patterson Unyeowaji
