Heartbreak: Niger Delta Youth Leader Mourns Chief Shimite Love, Calls for Investigation into Her Death,

Niger Delta youth leader, Comrade Mingo Meshach Sayami Ogumaka, has expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the sudden and tragic death of Chief Shimite Love, a prominent advocate for women’s rights in Delta State. Her shocking demise has left the community in mourning and raised serious concerns over the circumstances surrounding her death.
He said, Chief Shimite Love, widely respected as a courageous voice for women and a defender of the marginalized, was reportedly found dead under suspicious circumstances in her home on April 21st, 2025. According to preliminary findings, there are strong indications that her death may have been the result of domestic violence, with several sources alleging that she was murdered by her own husband.
The disturbing news, which quickly spread across social media platforms, has triggered public outcry, with many demanding justice and transparency. Images and tributes to the late Chief Shimite Love have flooded timelines, highlighting the deep impact she had on the lives of women across the Niger Delta region.
Comrade Mingo, speaking on behalf of concerned youth and activists in the region, called for swift action from the authorities:
“Chief Shimite Love was more than a leader — she was a sister, a mother figure, and a symbol of hope for thousands of women. Her death must not be swept under the carpet. The wickedness of a man has cut short a life so full of love, passion, and purpose. We demand answers and we demand justice.”
He revealed that the Law enforcement agencies have reportedly begun an immediate investigation into her death. According to a statement from the Delta State Police Command, detectives are currently gathering evidence, and the husband has been taken in for questioning as a person of interest.
Comrade Mingo further Said, the importance of transparency in the investigative process and urged all relevant authorities — including the Ministry of Women Affairs, human rights organizations, and civil society groups — to remain actively involved to ensure the truth comes to light.
“We cannot allow this to be another forgotten case,” he said. “Chief Shimite stood for the voiceless. Now we must be her voice.” he said,
Lastly, As the investigation unfolds, calls for justice continue to grow louder, with many urging the government to implement stronger protections against domestic violence and provide greater support for women in vulnerable situations.
