Egbema Youth Council Issues 30-Day Ultimatum To Edo Govt, NDDC Over Udo-Ofunama road
By EgbemaVoice,
The Egbema Youth Council (EYC), worldwide, has issued a 30-day ultimatum to Edo State Government and Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) over the abandoned Udo-Ofunama road.
In a statement on Saturday, Barr. Amatelemowei A. Sode, President General, of Egbema Youth Council, said the Udu-Ofunama road was awarded in April 20, 2012, with a projected completion period of eighty-six (86) weeks from the date of mobilization payment.
He lamented that the abandoned Udu-Ofunama road connects over 250 Ijaw communities and remains crucial to the social and economic survival of the people.
The group expressed deep concern over the decade-long neglect of this strategic infrastructure, which has now become a nightmare for commuters and residents.
“ We demand urgent intervention from relevant authorities within 30 days failing which the council will mobilize massive peaceful demonstrations to press home our demands”
“ We call on all well-meaning Niger Delta stakeholders, traditional leaders, and civil society groups to lend their voices to this cause and ensure justice and development reach the long-marginalized Egbema people”
