Comfort Emmanson’s Painful Experience at Ibom Airport: “I Was Humiliated, My Body Exposed — Now I’m the One in Court”
Says Today, my life took a painful and unexpected turn.
While on board an airplane at Ibom Airport, I became the target of verbal attacks from some passengers over my choice of dressing. I did not insult anyone, I did not provoke anyone — yet things escalated until I was physically handled in a way no woman should ever experience.
In the chaos, my clothes were pulled and my breasts were exposed for everyone to see. I was embarrassed, humiliated, and stripped of my dignity in public. That moment will haunt me for a long time.
Instead of being treated as someone who was attacked, I was taken away and charged to court. Today ended with me being remanded — not for fighting, not for stealing, but after I had already suffered public humiliation.
I am not here to fight the law, but to tell my truth. I am someone’s daughter, sister, and friend. I am a Nigerian woman who simply wanted to travel in peace.
I hope those reading this will look beyond the rumours and see a human being who was hurt and shamed in public. I thank everyone who has shown me kindness today — your prayers and support mean more than words can say.
