Why an Egbema Son or Daughter Deserves the Warri North House of Assembly Seat
_An Open Appeal to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State_
Your Excellency,
The strength of Delta State lies in its diversity, and the wisdom of your M.O.R.E Agenda rests on equity, inclusion, and fairness for all ethnic nationalities. It is on this foundation that we respectfully make the case for an Egbema Kingdom son or daughter to occupy the Warri North House of Assembly seat.
*1. Warri North is a Shared Heritage, Not a Monopoly*
Warri North LGA is home to two major groups: Itsekiri, and Ijaw of Egbema Kingdom. Yet, since the return to democracy in 1999, the House of Assembly seat has not reflected this dual balance. Egbema Kingdom, with its 6 federal wards, over 40 communities, and significant voting population, has remained without direct legislative representation. Equity demands that rotation and inclusion be applied not just at the state level, but at the LGA level where people feel governance most.
*2. Egbema Kingdom Carries the Economic Weight of Warri North*
The creeks of Egbema host critical oil and gas assets that contribute substantially to Delta State’s FAAC allocation and Nigeria’s economy. From Opuama to Polobubo, these communities bear the environmental costs of exploration yet remain underserved in infrastructure, schools, and healthcare. Having a legislator who lives this reality ensures that the issues of oil spill remediation, shore protection, jetties, and youth empowerment are tabled directly on the floor of the House.
*3. Effective Representation Requires Lived Experience*
Legislation without lived context becomes policy on paper. An Egbema representative brings first-hand understanding of the unique challenges of riverine governance: transportation by boat, seasonal flooding, absence of road networks, and the urgent need for modular health centers and riverine schools. Your Excellency’s M.O.R.E Agenda promises Meaningful Development and Opportunities for All. That promise is best fulfilled when the people who know the terrain are in the room where decisions are made.
*4. Peace and Stability in Warri North Depend on Fairness*
History has shown us that political exclusion breeds tension, while inclusion fosters peace. Giving Egbema Kingdom a turn at the Assembly seat will deepen the sense of belonging among Ijaw constituents and strengthen inter-ethnic cooperation in Warri North. It will validate your administration’s reputation as a unifier who gives every group a voice.
*5. Capacity and Competence Abound in Egbema*
Egbema Kingdom has sons and daughters with proven track records in law, public administration, education, and community leadership. What they seek is not a favor, but a fair platform to serve Warri North and advance your legislative agenda of youth development, infrastructure, and social welfare.
*Our Appeal*
Your Excellency, you have consistently shown that you are a governor for all Deltans. As 2027 approaches, we appeal that you use your leadership and moral authority within the APC to encourage the zoning of the Warri North House of Assembly seat to Egbema Kingdom. This single act will correct a longstanding imbalance, deepen grassroots faith in democracy, and expand the reach of your M.O.R.E Agenda to the forgotten creeks.
Egbema people are not asking to take what belongs to others. We are asking for a seat at the table to contribute, to build, and to ensure that Warri North truly works for all who call it home.
Respectfully,
Rt Hon Prince Michael Tamaramiekiritei Thikan
Speaker
3rd Mobile Parliament
Egbema Youth Council Worldwide.
