DIVISIVE VIDEO SPARKS OUTRAGE: General Silas Condemns Attack on Bolowei 1, Hon. Alhaji Emmanuel Omoko,

The attention of myself and other well-meaning stakeholders of Egbema Kingdom has been drawn to a video currently trending across social media platforms made by Chief Otegha Tracely Ayebi

In the said video, Chief Ayebi made defamatory, divisive, and inciting statements targeted at our foremost leader and father of the land, Hon. Alhaji Emmanuel Omoko, The Bolowei 1 of Egbema Kingdom. The clear intention of that video is to create problems, disunity, and unnecessary crisis among the peaceful communities of Egbema Kingdom.

He said,  I reject this in totality. Egbema Kingdom is one indivisible entity. From Opuama, Polobubo, Ogbinbiri, to Ogbudugbudu in Warri North local Government Area of Delta state and its environs, we share the same ancestry, the same struggles, and the same aspirations. The oil companies operating in our kingdom are located within these territories mentioned. For decades, our people have agitated for development, employment, and environmental justice.

In all of this, Hon. Alhaji Emmanuel Omoko, The Bolowei 1, has conducted himself as a true leader. He has never held opportunities to himself. Even though he is not the company, and as an individual he does not have the right to change any company formulation, he has used his position, influence, and credibility to ensure that benefits and opportunities from the oil companies cut across all communities in Egbema Kingdom.

That is leadership. That is sacrifice. That is why he is respected across the length and breadth of Egbema.

It is therefore sad and unfortunate that instead of channeling his energy toward engaging the Federal Government and International Oil Companies on issues of underdevelopment, unemployment, and environmental degradation that are affecting all of us in the Niger Delta, Chief Ayebi has chosen the path of social media propaganda and character assassination.

The Niger Delta does not need more division. We need unity. We need development. We need leaders who will speak to power in Abuja and not fight their own at home.

Egbema Kingdom has come a long way in building peace. We will not allow any individual, from within or outside, to set us against each other.
