• Egbema Youths Must Rise Against Political Neglect, Demand Accountability and Embrace Inclusive Representation
• No More Politics Without Tangible Development: Egbema Must Reposition for 2027
As the 2027 general elections approach, the people of Egbema Kingdom in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State must begin to critically examine the performance of their elected representatives and make informed decisions about their political future. For too long, many Egbema communities have continued to express concerns over inadequate infrastructure, poor road networks, electricity challenges, youth unemployment, limited empowerment opportunities and what they perceive as insufficient political inclusion in the distribution of government projects and development initiatives.
The time has come for the people to demand measurable results, transparent representation and a political system that recognises Egbema's contributions to the economic development of Delta State and Nigeria.
Enough is Enough Egbema kingdom deserves better , the two Thomases time for accountability, The debate over political representation in Egbema has increasingly focused on two federal legislators: Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, representing Delta South Senatorial District, and Chief Thomas Ereyitomi, representing Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas is seeking another term on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), having secured the party's ticket for the 2027 senatorial election. Thomas Ereyitomi has also been affirmed as the APC candidate for the Warri Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 elections.
Their candidacies present an opportunity for constituents, particularly the people of Egbema Kingdom, to ask important questions about representation, constituency development, legislative performance and the equitable distribution of development projects.
1. SENATOR JOEL-ONOWAKPO THOMAS: WHERE ARE THE TANGIBLE RESULTS FOR EGBEMA?
Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas has represented Delta South Senatorial District since 2023. However, concerns have been raised by Egbema new political wave platform and stakeholders over the visibility and impact of constituency development projects in their communities.
The central question is straightforward: What specific, verifiable projects and development interventions have directly benefited Egbema Kingdom during the senator's tenure?
Egbema communities need more than political visits, campaign promises, photographs and occasional empowerment announcements. They deserve concrete evidence of development initiatives, including:
Construction and rehabilitation of community roads.
Electricity infrastructure and solar-powered streetlights.
Educational facilities, scholarships and youth training programmes.
Functional healthcare facilities and access to essential medical services.
Employment opportunities and sustainable economic empowerment.
Effective representation of Egbema interests in federal development programmes.
Egbema stakeholders should demand a comprehensive account of projects proposed, funded, executed and completed in their communities.
While reports have highlighted some of Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas's legislative and constituency initiatives across Delta South, the critical issue for Egbema residents is whether such interventions have adequately addressed their particular needs.
As Egbema New Political Wave and stakersholders cannot identify sufficient tangible benefits in their communities, we have every democratic right to question the senator's performance and consider alternative representation in 2027.
2. THOMAS EREYITOMI: SEVEN YEARS OF REPRESENTATION, WHAT HAS EGBEMA GAINED?
Chief Thomas Ereyitomi has represented the Warri North, Warri South and Warri South-West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives since 2019, having secured re-election in 2023.
Vote APC Nigeria, His tenure has placed him in a position to influence federal legislation, constituency interventions, budgetary allocations and development initiatives across the constituency. Nevertheless, Egbema communities must ask a fundamental question:
After years of federal representation, what significant, verifiable development projects can the people point to as evidence of effective representation in Egbema Kingdom?
Egbema people deserve clear answers on road infrastructure, electricity, educational development, healthcare, youth empowerment and other essential services.
The people should demand a public record of constituency projects, including their locations, approved budgets, implementation status and completion dates.
If projects have been executed elsewhere in the constituency, Egbema stakeholders are entitled to ask whether development opportunities have been distributed fairly across the constituent communities.
Representation must not be measured solely by the number of years spent in office. It must be measured by the quality of legislation, effective advocacy, accountability and improvements in people's living conditions.
Egbema must not remain politically relevant only during election campaigns while its development concerns await attention.
Egbema Kingdom is an important part of the Niger Delta, with communities whose contributions to the nation's economic activities make their development concerns deserving of serious attention.
Yet, the persistent concerns about inadequate infrastructure and limited development opportunities have strengthened calls for a new approach to political representation. The people must no longer accept a political culture in which elected officials seek votes without presenting clear accounts of their stewardship.
The 2027 elections should therefore become a turning point for Egbema Kingdom. This is not a call for violence, ethnic hostility or personal attacks against any politician. It is a call for peaceful democratic participation, responsible leadership and the courage to demand better governance. No elected representative should be considered indispensable. Every mandate belongs to the people, and every politician must be prepared to defend their record before the electorate.
The youths of Egbema Kingdom must recognise their power in shaping the political future of their communities. They must organise, engage political candidates, scrutinise manifestoes, examine past performances and insist on measurable commitments before casting their votes.
The struggle for political inclusion must go beyond social media campaigns and election-day mobilisation. It must involve sustained civic engagement, voter education, community consultations and collective demands for development.
Egbema youths should ask every candidate seeking their support:
What projects will you deliver to Egbema communities?
How will you address the kingdom's communities road and waterways and electricity challenges?
What concrete plans do you have for youth employment and skills acquisition?
How will you ensure equitable distribution of constituency projects?
Will you publish regular reports on your legislative activities and constituency interventions?
What mechanisms will allow constituents to hold you accountable?
Candidates who cannot provide convincing answers should not expect automatic support simply because of their political party, personal connections or previous electoral victories.
The future belongs to leaders who can demonstrate competence, accessibility, transparency and a genuine commitment to public service.
Egbema Kingdom needs a political arrangement that promotes fairness, equity, participation and development.
The kingdom must work towards a system in which its communities have a meaningful voice in political decisions and enjoy fair access to development opportunities.
Inclusive politics does not mean excluding other ethnic groups or denying anyone their democratic rights. Rather, it means ensuring that Egbema's interests are properly represented within the broader political structure of Warri North, Delta South and the Niger Delta.
The people should support candidates who demonstrate a willingness to listen, consult, collaborate and deliver results.
Political parties must also recognise that electoral support cannot be taken for granted. Communities that contribute to electoral victories deserve to be treated as equal stakeholders in governance.
The era of unconditional political loyalty must give way to performance-based support.
As the 2027 general elections approach, Egbema Kingdom must make accountability, development and inclusive representation central to its political decisions.
The electorate should carefully assess the records of Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi and every other candidate seeking their votes.
Where performance has fallen short of public expectations, voters should exercise their democratic right to demand change.
Where candidates present credible plans, demonstrable competence and a commitment to equitable development, the people should evaluate those proposals on their merits.
The objective must be clear: to secure better roads, reliable electricity, improved education, accessible healthcare, economic opportunities and stronger representation for Egbema Kingdom.
Egbema youths, community leaders, women, traditional institutions and other stakeholders must unite around the demand for accountable leadership.
The kingdom must not allow political divisions to weaken its collective pursuit of development.
Egbema Kingdom deserves representatives who understand the people's challenges, respect their aspirations and can demonstrate what they have achieved.
The ultimate decision rests with the electorate. Through peaceful participation and informed voting, the people can determine whether their current representatives deserve another mandate or whether the time has come for a new direction.
Egbema is not a political appendage. Egbema is a kingdom with a voice, a stake and a future. That future must be protected through responsible leadership and purposeful representation.
EGBEMA KINGDOM DESERVES BETTER!
2027: LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE!
OUR MESSAGE IS CLEAR:
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
NO MORE REPRESENTATION WITHOUT ACCOUNTABILITY!
NO MORE POLITICS WITHOUT TANGIBLE DEVELOPMENT!
NO MORE NEGLECT OF EGBEMA COMMUNITIES!
2027 MUST BE ABOUT PERFORMANCE, EQUITY AND INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP!
