...... Mourns the developmental shortfall in Warri North,
...... Hon. Festus Ashima's Leadership Lauded as Warri North Marks 100 Days of Uninterrupted Peace and Unity Under His Stewardship,
By EgbemaVoice,
Ijaw youth leader Comrade Mingo Friday Saya has commended the leadership of Warri North Local Government Area, expressing confidence in Chairman Hon. Festus Ashima and Vice-Chair Mrs. Florence Bisina after their first 100 days in office. Mingo praised their bold leadership, which he says has fostered peace and unity in Warri North's council in Koko, Delta State.
The confidence vote reflects appreciation for their dedication to addressing local concerns and maintaining harmony among communities. Mingo encouraged continued focus on inclusive governance for sustained progress in the region.
Comrade Mingo, urged Warri North Council Chairman Hon. Festus Ashima and Vice-Chair Mrs. Florence Bisina to maintain the existing peace within the council area. He emphasized the importance of their ongoing efforts in fostering unity and stability, encouraging them to continue prioritizing peaceful governance for the well-being of the local communities.
Comr. Saya expressed concern over the persistent underdevelopment in Warri North, stating that it has become a recurring issue under the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori-led Delta State Government.
He highlighted the need for urgent intervention and called on the state government to prioritize development projects in the area to improve the quality of life for the people of Warri North.
Comrade Mingo, further stressed that numerous projects have been executed and the 2025 budget proposal has been announced by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration, yet none of these projects seem to address the needs of Warri North Local Government Area.
He expressed disappointment over the absence of impactful developments in the area and urged the Delta State Government to ensure that Warri North is not overlooked in upcoming projects and budget allocations.
Mingo reiterated that despite Warri North's significant contributions to Delta State's economy through its oil and gas resources, the area continues to suffer from deprivation, marginalization, and oppression. He emphasized that Warri North deserves fair recognition and investment from the state government, urging leaders to address the long-standing neglect and ensure that the community benefits from the wealth it generates.
Stressing further that, the riverine communities of Asigborodor in Egbema kingdom, Warri North Local Government Area, Delta state which share boundaries with Ondo and Edo States, are facing significant challenges due to heavy water hyacinth infestation in their waterways. This overgrowth has made it extremely difficult for residents to travel and participate in economic activities, as it obstructs the main routes for transportation and trade. The people of Asigborodor are calling for urgent government intervention to clear the water hyacinth, which is essential for restoring access and improving the economic livelihood of these riverine communities.
Remarks that's, Warri North is lagging in Delta State's beautification projects, particularly in the installation of solar lights that have been implemented across many villages, towns and cities in the state. Unfortunately, none of these lighting projects have reached the communities within Egbema Kingdom. This lack of infrastructure leaves Egbema communities underserved, impacting both safety and nighttime economic activities. The community is urging the Delta State Government to include Egbema in these beautification and lighting projects to enhance living conditions and promote development.
