A Petition Against the Flawed Disqualification in the APC Screening for Delta State House of Assembly, Warri North Constituency
By: Etuwatimi Inimoweri Isaac, Aspirant
I write this petition with a heavy heart but with a firm belief in justice, equity, and the ideals of the All Progressives Congress. I, Etuwatimi Inimoweri Isaac , an aspirant for the Delta State House of Assembly, Warri North Constituency, was unjustly disqualified after successfully scaling through the screening process conducted by the APC Screening Committee.
I followed every instruction given by the party. I purchased the nomination forms, completed them accurately, and submitted all documents requested by the Screening Committee and the APC National Secretariat. My documents were intact, verifiable, and met every requirement stipulated in the guidelines issued for the exercise.
On the day of the screening, I appeared before the committee with confidence because I had nothing to hide. I was screened, questioned, and my documents were scrutinized. At the end of the process, I was cleared. No error was cited. No discrepancy was pointed out. I left the venue with the understanding that I had met the standard set by the party.
It therefore came as a shock when the final list of cleared aspirants was released and my name was omitted. No official communication was sent to me stating the reason for my disqualification. I was neither invited for clarification nor given an opportunity to defend myself against any allegation, real or imagined.
This process reeks of arbitrariness and a deliberate attempt to manipulate the outcome of the primary election in Warri North. If the Screening Committee found nothing wrong with my documents and cleared me during the exercise, on what grounds was I later disqualified behind closed doors?
The APC is a party built on internal democracy, fairness, and the rule of law. To disqualify a bonafide member who followed due process, without reason or hearing, is to betray those very principles. It sends a dangerous message that loyalty and compliance mean nothing when predetermined decisions have already been made.
Warri North is a politically sensitive constituency with diverse ethnic interests. Any attempt to forcefully eliminate aspirants without justification threatens the unity of the party and the chances of APC in the general election. Imposing candidates through backdoor disqualifications will only breed apathy, division, and legal battles.
I am therefore appealing to the APC Screening Appeals Committee and the leadership of the party at the state and national levels to intervene. Review my records. Uphold the result of the screening where I was cleared. Injustice done to one aspirant is injustice done to the entire democratic process.
I trust that the party will act swiftly to correct this wrong and restore confidence in the process. Other constituencies have 4 to 5 aspirants, it is only fair when you allow all aspirants to exercise their civil rights. I remain committed to the APC and to offering credible representation to the people of Warri North. Let justice prevail.
Signed
Etuwatimi Inimoweri Isaac
