Press release: Ikokodiagbene community rejects link to Brandley Village Killing , calls for justice and full investigation,
PRESS RELEASE:
IKOKODIAGBENE (ABIALA II) COMMUNITY IS NOT INVOLVED IN THE ATTACK ON BRANDLEY CAMP: LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCCIES ARE URGED TO CARRY OUT A THOROUGH INVESTIGATION TO UNCOVER THE REAL PERPETRATORS.
We are members of Ikokodiagbene (Abiala II) Community in Ikpoba-Okha L. G. A of Edo State and we have put up this Press Release to set the records straight, avoid a misrepresentation of facts, and to use same as a means to call on law enforcement and security agencies not to act on the whims, caprices and sentiments of persons and some misguided and misleading sensational media reports but to act with tact and carry out a thorough investigation to uncover the real perpetrators of the attack and killings that took place at Brandly Camp under Ikokodiagbene (Abiala II) Community so as to avoid irreparable miscarriage of justice.
It is a fact (undeniable) that the elders of Ikokodiagbene (Abiala II) Community in Ikpoba-Okha L. G. A of Edo State in 1971 granted permission to Brandly Tiemo (now of blessed memories) to settle on the place now known as Brandly Camp only as a temporary settlement and as a tenant to carry on the craft of canoe carving. Documents late Brandly Tiemo signed with Ikokodiagbene (Abiala II) Community are there.
Late Brandly Tiemo gave birth to al his children at the said Brandly’s Camp and finally passed.
After the death of Brandly Tiemo, the children were having some issues of refusal to pay rents to the Ikokodiagbene (Abiala II) Community but all those issues have been resolved long before now.
It therefore cane as rude shock this morning when we got news of the attack on Brandly’s Camp leading to the death of four (4) persons.
This incident is sad, regrettable and we commiserate with the members of the Brandly’s family for this great loss.
It is however surprising to see and read on the social media space that the attack came from Ikokodiagbene (Abiala II) Community which is a community under the Ogbinbiri Ijaw Clan in Egbema Kingdom.
We assert that Ikokodiagbene (Abiala II) Community knows nothing about this barbaric incident and condemns same in its entirety. We therefore call on law enforcement and security agencies not to act on the whims, caprices and sentiments of persons and some misguided and misleading sensational media reports but to act with tact and carry out a thorough investigation to uncover the real perpetrators of the attack and killings so as to avoid irreparable miscarriage of justice
Signed:
Mr. Berlin Tiemo
Mr. Paul Ogbudu
Pastor Richard Molih
Mr. Paul Posigha
