2027: Delta Ethnic Youth Leaders Endorse Tinubu, Oborevwori for Second Term, Pass Vote of Confidence

By EgbemaVoice

The Delta State Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders Council has passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, endorsing both leaders for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was made on Tuesday during a gathering of ethnic nationality youth leaders, opinion leaders, community stakeholders, religious leaders, and members of the press held at Bon Hotel, Asaba.

The motion for the endorsement was moved by Hon. Clement Olojoba from Sapele Local Government Area, who urged members of the council to support the continuation of both administrations.

"Today, I move the motion that His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, be endorsed for a second term in office without hindrance," Olojoba declared.

The motion was seconded by the Public Relations Officer of the council, Mr. Samuel Ebolor from Burutu Federal Constituency, who described the endorsement as a collective commitment to sustained development.
"It's all for one. It's all for Delta. I second the motion moved by my dear brother for the continuation of our Governor, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and our President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I wholeheartedly second the motion," Ebolor stated.

The motion was subsequently adopted unanimously by members of the council, culminating in a vote of confidence on both leaders.

Earlier in his address, President-General of the council, Deacon Marcus Enudi, expressed concern over the rising wave of insecurity across the country, describing kidnapping, banditry and terrorism as serious threats to national stability.

Referring to recent incidents of abduction in parts of the country, he condemned what he described as politically motivated insecurity and called on President Tinubu to intensify efforts to protect Nigerians.

"We state without equivocation that insecurity that is politically contrived, funded and sustained by powerful interests is treason against the Nigerian people," he said.

While acknowledging the responsibility of government in ensuring security, Enudi urged citizens to become active participants in safeguarding their communities.

"If you see something, say something. The preservation of the state demands the vigilance of the governed," he added.

The youth leader also highlighted the economic challenges confronting Nigerians and appealed to the Federal Government to implement policies that would stimulate production, create jobs and reduce poverty.

Speaking on Governor Oborevwori's administration, Enudi commended the governor's MORE Agenda, describing it as a development blueprint that has delivered visible projects and improved governance across Delta State.

According to him, the state has witnessed significant progress since Oborevwori assumed office in May 2023, noting that the governor had demonstrated commitment to infrastructure development, peace-building and inclusive governance.

"Delta State is no longer waiting for the future; it is building it. When a leader proves that meaningful development, opportunities for all, reforms and peace are possible together, you do not interrupt the process; you strengthen it," he stated.

The council also appealed to both the Federal and Delta State Governments to expedite the completion of key infrastructure projects across the state.

Among the projects listed were the Ayakoromo Bridge, the Independent Power Project (IPP) step-down facility in Ndokwa Nation, the Ogwashi-Uku Dam project, the Sapele-Eku-Agbor Road, the East-West Road, and the rehabilitation of the Ezukwu-Achalla-Ibusa Road linking Asaba.

Other requests included the conversion of the gas turbine at the Utorogun Gas Plant to generate electricity, improved healthcare facilities in Ika Federal Constituency, youth employment programmes, digital technology and artificial intelligence training, provision of solar-powered boreholes in rural communities, revival of ports and moribund industries, and the establishment of small and medium-scale enterprises to boost job creation.

While commending the efforts of both administrations, the council stressed that nation-building requires continuity and patience.

"We hereby endorse the continuity of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori beyond 2027. Consolidation, not disruption, is the logic of progress at this hour. Let governance breathe, let policy mature, let the foundation hold," Enudi declared.

The council concluded by urging Nigerians to support ongoing efforts aimed at national development, insisting that the country's future depends on citizens who are willing to contribute positively to the process of rebuilding and strengthening democratic institutions.
