Egbema Leader, Amb. Gen. Silas Toruwei Urges Niger Delta Youths to Stop Social Media Attacks on Otuaro, Says He’s “On the Right Track”

EGBEMA — A prominent peace advocate and leader in Egbema Kingdom, Amb. Gen. Silas Tamarau-Emi Toruwei AASL, ADR, JP, LL, has called on youths of Niger Delta and stakeholders to desist from raining insults on High Chief Dr. Dennis Otuaro, Ph.D on social media, insisting that the Ijaw leader is “on the right track” in his current national assignment.

Amb. Toruwei, who is also a Conflict Resolution Expert, made the call in a statement issued on Monday , August 10, 2026, while reacting to the growing wave of criticisms and attacks targeted at Dr. Otuaro across various social media platforms.

According to him, the mandate entrusted to High Chief Otuaro requires patience, unity, and strategic support rather than distractions and abuses online.

“The process of peace building, empowerment, and development in the Niger Delta is not an overnight task. It requires wisdom, diplomacy, and cooperation from all of us,” Toruwei stated.
“From all indications and my interactions, High Chief Dr. Dennis Otuaro is on the right track. We should give him the enabling environment to deliver on his mandate instead of pulling him down with insults.”

The Egbema leader further noted that social media attacks are counter-productive and only serve to create division and a negative image of the Ijaw Nation.

“We are known for our maturity and wisdom. If there are genuine concerns, the right channels for dialogue are open. Raining insults will not solve any problem but will only derail the progress we are pursuing as a people,” he added.

Amb. Toruwei therefore urged Ijaw youths, and the general public to remain calm, be law-abiding, and support ongoing efforts aimed at peace and development in the region.

He concluded by praying for unity and progress in Egbema Kingdom, the Ijaw Nation, and Nigeria at large.
