Egbema Clan IYC Information Officer Condemns Alleged Insults, Blackmail and Unverified Allegations Against Hon. Emmanuel Omoko, Says ENOUGH IS ENOUGH,

EGBEMA KINGDOM — The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Information Officer, Egbema Clan, Comrade Amalayefa Gbadagha Columbus, has strongly condemned what he described as alleged insulting, defamatory and unverified publications by Mr. Goodluck Ojusin against the Bolowei of Egbema Kingdom, Hon. Emmanuel Omoko, popularly known as Alhaji, and other respected leaders of the kingdom.

Comrade Amalayefa, reacting to the controversy surrounding statements allegedly made by Ojusin on social media, said the matter should no longer be treated as an ordinary disagreement, insisting that individuals who make serious allegations against community leaders must be prepared to substantiate their claims through appropriate channels.

He described the alleged social media attacks as deeply disturbing and warned that the freedom to express an opinion should never be interpreted as a licence to allegedly insult, blackmail, defame or circulate unverified accusations against another person.

According to Comrade Amalayefa, the matter could ordinarily have been overlooked in the interest of peace, but the alleged repeated nature of the publications has made it necessary for stakeholders to speak out.

He said Egbema youths must not allow social media disagreements to degenerate into personal attacks capable of destroying the reputation of individuals and creating unnecessary division within the kingdom.

Ordinarily, we would have overlooked this matter in the interest of peace. But enough is enough. If someone has an allegation against a leader, let him bring the evidence and follow the proper process. Social media should not be turned into a courtroom where people make accusations without producing facts.

He urged Ojusin to desist from what he described as reckless publications and advised him to use lawful and established avenues if he has genuine grievances concerning the leadership of Opuama or Egbema Kingdom.

Comrade Amalayefa further defended the development record of the Bolowei of Egbema Kingdom, Hon. Emmanuel Omoko, particularly in Opuama.

He said the public can independently assess the projects and interventions associated with the Bolowei's leadership rather than relying solely on social media narratives.

According to him, the Bolowei has supported and facilitated various community initiatives, including infrastructure, health-related interventions, electricity support, community facilities, youth empowerment and welfare programmes.

He acknowledged that no individual leader can provide every development need of a community, but maintained that this should not be used as justification for personal attacks.

Development can never be enough. There will always be more to do. But that does not erase the interventions and sacrifices already made. If anyone wants more development for Opuama, let us collectively demand it. Do not turn the development needs of the community into an excuse to insult the man who has contributed to the community.

The IYC Information Officer stressed that serious allegations involving public funds, community resources or leadership conduct should be accompanied by credible evidence.

He challenged anyone making such allegations to present the facts before the appropriate authorities and community structures rather than allegedly publishing claims on social media without verification.

Amalayefa said Egbema Kingdom needs accountability and transparency, but accountability must be pursued responsibly.

If there is evidence, bring it forward. If there is a financial record, let the record be examined. If there is a complaint, let the appropriate authorities investigate it. But nobody should sit behind a phone and make unverified accusations against respected leaders and believe there will be no consequences.

Comrade Amalayefa further alleged that Ojusin had benefited from assistance associated with the Bolowei on previous occasions and questioned why, despite such alleged interactions, he would subsequently resort to public attacks.

The Egbema Clan IYC Information Officer warned that freedom of speech carries responsibilities and that individuals who publish potentially defamatory or unlawful material should be prepared to answer for their actions through appropriate legal processes.

Nobody is above the law. If you make a statement publicly, you must be prepared to defend that statement. If the statement is found to be false, defamatory or unlawful, the appropriate legal consequences should follow. This is not about intimidation; it is about responsibility.

He therefore called on Ojusin to retract any allegedly false or defamatory statements and issue an appropriate public apology to the affected leaders if the claims cannot be substantiated.

Comrade Amalayefa appealed to youths to stop allowing personal disagreements to threaten the unity of the kingdom.

He said youths have a major role to play in the future of Egbema and should therefore demonstrate maturity, respect and discipline in their public engagements.

He emphasized that anyone is free to aspire to leadership or contest a legitimate community position, but such aspirations should be pursued through accepted procedures rather than personal attacks.

You can contest. You can criticize. You can demand accountability. You can ask government for development. But you must do all of these responsibly. Insulting our elders and leaders will not build Opuama or Egbema Kingdom.

Comrade Amalayefa concluded by urging all parties to embrace dialogue and peaceful resolution while calling on those with genuine grievances to present their evidence before the appropriate institutions.

He maintained that Egbema Kingdom belongs to all its sons and daughters, and that disagreements should never be allowed to destroy the unity, dignity and reputation of the people.
