IGP Sacks SIX MOPOL Commanders Over ₦70,000 Monthly Extortion Scheme in Port Harcourt!
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has axed six Commanding Officers of the Nigeria Police Mobile Force (MOPOL) attached to TotalEnergies in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, after a police investigative panel uncovered an organised extortion racket!
After TotalEnergies approved a pay raise for officers on special duty, bumping their allowance to ₦220,000 monthly, their commanding officers allegedly turned around and demanded ₦70,000 back from each officer as mandatory monthly kickbacks!
Officers who refused to pay were threatened with removal from the lucrative deployment!
Many officers were initially afraid to speak up during the panel's visit, but after the team returned to Abuja, documentary evidence was quietly submitted, sealing the commanders' fate!
All six have been relieved of their command. Officers who collected the money on their behalf have also been recommended for disciplinary trial.
The IGP's message is clear, NO commander will exploit officers under their command and get away with it!
