EIPGG Raises Alarm Over Neglect of Egbema Communities in Warri North, Calls for Immediate Government Action,

The Egbema Intellectual Professionals for Good Governance (EIPGG) has accused the Delta State Government under Governor His Excellency Elder Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori of neglecting Egbema communities in Warri North Local Government Area.
In a communiqué dated September 20, 2026, the group alleged that despite Egbema’s contribution to the state’s economy and its support for the governor during the 2023 elections, the kingdom has received limited government projects and development.
EIPGG called for urgent construction of access roads, shore protection, rehabilitation of schools and health centres, greater inclusion of qualified Egbema indigenes in government appointments, a special development intervention fund, and the establishment of a technical college in Egbema.
The group warned that continued neglect could trigger lawful and democratic mobilisation across Egbema communities ahead of the 2027 elections, stressing that “Egbema deserves better, Egbema demands equity, and Egbema demands development.”

Preamble:
We, the members of Egbema Intellectual Professionals for Good Governance (EIPGG), a body of educated professionals, technocrats, entrepreneurs and leaders of thought from Egbema Kingdom, Warri North LGA, Delta State, after an emergency general meeting to review the state of governance and development in our homeland, do hereby issue this communique:
Our Condemnation:
1. EIPGG condemns in the strongest terms the continued and deliberate neglect of Egbema communities by the Sheriff Oborevwori-led administration of Delta State.
2. It is a painful irony that Egbema, which hosts several oil wells and contributes massively to the Federation Account that sustains Delta State, is the most abandoned and underdeveloped kingdom in the state. We lack access roads, functional hospitals, potable water, electricity, and standard schools.
3. We state the unequivocally that Egbema people voted massively and delivered block votes for His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori in the 2023 general elections. This massive show of loyalty and love has been repaid with abandonment, sidelining and political exclusion.
4. In over two years of the M.O.R.E Agenda administration, not a single meaningful state government project has been sited, commenced or completed in any Egbema community. No democratic dividends have reached us.
5. The administration has failed to appoint any Egbema son or daughter into any meaningful position in government, failed to empower our youths and women, and failed to address the environmental degradation ravaging our communities.
6. The recent distribution of Ukodo fishing boats to certain individuals in Warri North LGA is a show of shame and a clear sign of a government that has failed its people. How can our people still depend on fishing when oil and gas exploration has destroyed marine and aquatic life in our waters? While technical colleges and other educational upgrades are being sited in several kingdoms across the state, why can't Egbema benefit from such development? It is now highly visible that this government does not recognize our collective support. We wish to remind the government that 2027 is just by the corner, and our votes will speak louder if this marginalization continues.
For us in Egbema, the M.O.R.E Agenda has not reached us. For us, it means M.O.R.E Marginalization.
Our Position and Demands:
In view of the above, EIPGG resolves and demands as follows:
A. That the Governor, as a matter of urgency, approves and commences the construction of access roads linking Opuama, Ogbudugbudu, Polobubor, Ogbinbiri and other Egbema communities.
B. Immediate approval of shore protection/embankment projects, renovation of our dilapidated primary and secondary schools, and equipping of our health centers.
C. Immediate inclusion of qualified Egbema Intellectual Professionals in appointments, boards, and commissions of the state government.
D. A special development intervention fund for Egbema as a major oil-producing kingdom and siting of a Technical College in Egbema Kingdom.
We put the Delta State Government on notice that the patience of Egbema people is running out. We can no longer continue to vote massively only to be abandoned massively. If this neglect continues, we shall be left with no choice but to mobilize our people across all Egbema communities to use all lawful and democratic means to protest this injustice and re-evaluate our political alliance.
Egbema deserves better. Egbema demands equity. Egbema demands development.
Enough of this neglect!
