CULT CLASH IN IKUYINMINO: ONE LEFT HALF-DEAD, OLD FEAR OF CULTISM RESURFACES IN ILAJE

On 13th September, 2026, at about 10:00pm, rival cult groups identified as EYE and AIYE confraternities clashed at Ikuyinminno Community, Ilaje Local Government Area.

The violent clash left one person critically injured and half-dead. He was rushed to Masha Hospital, Awoye where he is currently receiving treatment.

The rest of the cult members escaped before the arrival of personnel of the Nigerian Navy and other paramilitary agencies who responded to distress calls.

This development is worrisome as the old ugly story of cultism that we fought hard to end in Ilaje land is resurfacing again.Leaders and security agents must act now If not urgently checked, it may escalate.
Ilaje wants peace, development and security - not bloodshed.

WE CALL ON:
1. The Chairman of Ilaje LGA and security agencies to increase surveillance in Ikuyinminno, Awoye and environs.
2. Traditional rulers and community leaders to call their youths to order.
3. Parents to watch the movements of their wards.

THE REAL DANGER:
For some months now, we have been hearing different stories of their day and night fighting. The worst is that our riverine communities in Ilaje are now in total fear. From one community to another, residents can no longer breathe freely or sleep with two eyes closed.
