From Local Reporting to Global Exposure: AIIYC Hails Arogboibe-Voice CEO, Commends Dr. Otuaro

The national president-elect of the Arogbo Ijaw Ibe Youth Council (AIIYC), Comr. Utanghan Ebikontei, has congratulated the Chief Executive Officer of Arogboibe-Voice Reporters, Mr. Kegbe Doctor, on his ongoing professional training in Qatar, describing the opportunity as a significant milestone in his career and a recognition of his sustained commitment to journalism.

Comr. Ebikontei, in a congratulatory message, also commended the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro, for supporting the additional training, describing the initiative as a meaningful investment in human capital and professional development in the Niger Delta.

He said Mr. Kegbe's journey to Qatar is particularly noteworthy given his years of resilience and commitment to journalism, especially his efforts through Arogboibe-Voice Reporters to document and promote the history, culture, experiences and some salient contemporary realities of the Niger Delta.

According to him, the development goes beyond an individual professional achievement, as it presents an opportunity for one of the region’s emerging media practitioners to acquire broader knowledge and exposure that could further strengthen his contribution to journalism and community development.

Ebikontei noted that Doctor's passion for documenting the Niger Delta story has remained evident in his efforts to provide a platform for issues affecting communities that are often underrepresented in mainstream narratives.

He said such journalism remains important to preserving the historical and cultural identity of the region, promoting informed public discourse and ensuring that the experiences and aspirations of Niger Delta communities receive appropriate attention.

The AIIYC President-elect described Mr. Kegbe’s decision to approach the Qatar opportunity as a platform for learning and professional advancement as commendable, particularly his stated intention to return with improved skills and perspectives that would enhance his work as a journalist.

Ebikontei said the development also underscores the importance of supporting professionals whose work has implications for peace-building, public enlightenment, cultural preservation, and development.

The president particularly commended Dr. Otuaro for recognising the importance of capacity development, stressing that sustainable development in the Niger Delta requires deliberate investment in the knowledge and professional capabilities of its people.
