Lagos Police Identify Officer in Viral Video, Launch Disciplinary Action

The Lagos State Police Command has identified the police officer captured in a viral video making what authorities described as careless, inappropriate and uncultured remarks while travelling in a public transport vehicle.

The Command confirmed that the officer is Inspector Osumah Frank and announced that disciplinary proceedings have commenced against him in line with the regulations of the Nigeria Police Force.

According to a statement issued by the Command, the comments made by the officer were expressed in his personal capacity and do not represent the official position, views or disposition of either the Lagos State Police Command or the Nigeria Police Force.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to professionalism, discipline and respect for members of the public. He emphasized that police personnel are expected to uphold the highest standards of conduct both on and off duty.

The Commissioner further noted that wearing the police uniform comes with the responsibility of protecting the image and integrity of the Force, warning that any conduct capable of bringing the institution into disrepute will not be tolerated.
The Lagos State Police Command assured residents that it remains committed to transparency, accountability and policing with humility and integrity while taking appropriate action against erring officers.

LAGOS STATE POLICE COMMAND IDENTIFIES INSPECTOR IN VIRAL VIDEO, COMMENCES DISCIPLINARY ACTION

In keeping with the Lagos State Police Command’s commitment to transparency and accountability, the Command wishes to state that the Inspector of Police who appeared in the viral video making careless, inappropriate and uncultured remarks while travelling in public transport has been identified as INSP. Osumah Frank. 

The Command has commenced appropriate disciplinary action against the officer in line with established regulations of the Nigeria Police Force; it also wishes to make it clear that the statements made by the officer were made in his personal capacity and do not represent the position, views or official disposition of the Lagos State Police Command or the Nigeria Police Force.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, reiterates that all personnel are expected to maintain professionalism, civility, discipline and respect for members of the public at all times. He further reaffirmed that wearing the Police uniform comes with a responsibility to uphold the dignity and integrity of the Force, and that the Command will not condone any conduct capable of bringing the Force into disrepute or undermining public confidence in the Police.

The Command remains committed to transparency, accountability and policing with humility and integrity.
