Niger Delta youth leader, Comrade Mingo Meshach Sayami Ogumaka, has joined family, friends, associates and youths across the Niger Delta to celebrate Comrade City Kelvin Eferusuoa, a prominent youth leader, grassroots mobiliser and advocate for community development and accountable leadership.
Comrade Mingo described Eferusuoa as an open-hearted, accessible and people-oriented leader, whose leadership journey has been defined by courage, community engagement, youth mobilisation and a willingness to speak on issues affecting his people.
According to Mingo, Eferusuoa represents a generation of Niger Delta youths who understand that leadership is not merely about occupying an office, but about standing with the people, listening to their concerns and contributing to the development of their communities.
A LEADER WITH DEEP EGBEMA AND IJAW ROOTS
Comrade City Kelvin Eferusuoa indeed Ofunama clan, Egbema kingdom born in Ovia South-West Local Government Area of Edo State, with maternal roots in Benikrukru, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.
His connection across communities in Edo and Delta gives him a distinctive place within the broader Niger Delta youth network and reflects the interconnected heritage of Ijaw communities across the region.
Eferusuoa served as President of the Egbema Youth Council (EYC), also known as the Egbema Youth Progressive Foundation. During his tenure, the council pursued youth participation, community advocacy and institutional development. In August 2022, a 22-member youth parliament representing 11 communities was inaugurated under the EYC structure, with Eferusuoa charging the legislators to develop laws and initiatives capable of advancing Egbema Kingdom. His tenure also featured advocacy on infrastructure, electricity, healthcare, political representation and the development needs of riverine communities. In July 2023, Eferusuoa was identified as President of the EYC in reports concerning the council's position on political representation for Ijaw communities in Warri North.
EgbemaVoice revealed, he is Beyond Egbema, Comrade Eferusuoa has also participated in national youth mobilisation through the Patriotic Nigeria Youth Movement (PNYM). In April 2024, as National Coordinator of the PNYM, he led representatives of the organisation on a solidarity visit to Benin City concerning the Edo State governorship election. Contemporary reporting identified him as the National Coordinator and quoted him speaking on behalf of the youth coalition. His public activities demonstrate an emphasis on youth participation, political engagement and community-oriented leadership.
Speaking on the occasion, Comrade Mingo Meshach Sayami Ogumaka said Eferusuoa's greatest quality is not simply his position or public visibility, but his humanity and openness toward people.
Mingo noted that genuine leadership requires the ability to accommodate different opinions, relate with people at the grassroots and remain committed to the interests of the community.
He described Kelvin as a brother, comrade, community advocate and dependable voice within the Niger Delta youth movement, adding that his contributions to Egbema youth development deserve recognition.
Kelvin City Eferusuoa is a man with an open heart. He is approachable, courageous and deeply connected to the grassroots. His journey reminds us that leadership is about service, sacrifice and the willingness to stand for what one believes is right.
On this special occasion, I celebrate you not only as a fellow Niger Delta youth leader, but as a brother and comrade. May God continue to grant you wisdom, strength, good health and greater opportunities to serve humanity.
Comrade Mingo further prayed that Eferusuoa's new year would bring greater wisdom, expanded opportunities, peace, prosperity and renewed strength to continue contributing to the development of Egbema Kingdom, the Niger Delta and Nigeria.
He urged young people across the region to continue embracing peaceful advocacy, education, constructive engagement and community development as tools for creating a better future.
