I COMMEND THE HISTORIC JUDGMENT ON KIDNAPPERS - A TRIUMPH FOR THE PEOPLE OF EDO STATE

Esteemed citizens of Edo State,

It is with immense joy and a profound sense of justice that I, *Rt. Hon. Engr. Chief Victor Sabor Edoror*, Honourable Federal Commissioner representing Edo State at the Federal Character Commission, express my support for the landmark judgment delivered today, September 29, 2026, by the Edo State Special Criminal Court.

The court, presided over by Justice Terry Momodu Aigbona, has rendered a death sentence by hanging for the four kidnappers—Marvelous Isaac, Wisdom Michael, Rufus Emete Michael, and Gift Raphael—convicted for the heinous kidnapping of our sister at the Vegetable Market along Airport Road, Benin City.

This ruling serves as a decisive message that *Edo State is no longer a refuge for criminals.*

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to our dedicated Governor, *H.E. Sen. Monday Okpebholo*, for his political resolve and bravery in establishing the Special Criminal Court to expedite cases of kidnapping, cultism, and armed robbery. This exemplifies leadership that responds to the concerns of the market woman, the farmer, the student, and the average citizen. You pledged to ensure the safety of Edo, and you are fulfilling that promise.

I also commend our courageous judiciary for standing firm in support of the populace.

*MY MESSAGE TO OUR YOUTH AND CITIZENS:*

To our cherished youth—my sons and daughters across Edo North, Central, and South—please listen:

Crime yields no rewards. The fleeting gains from kidnapping, cultism, and armed robbery will ultimately lead to disgrace, imprisonment, or death. Your lives are far more precious than that. Edo youths are recognized for their diligence, intellect, and creativity. Let us return to these values.

I encourage you to pursue skills, education, agriculture, and legitimate business ventures. The government of Senator Monday Okpebholo, alongside the Federal Government, is creating opportunities. Channel your energy into constructive endeavors rather than destructive ones.

To all citizens of Edo, let us remain vigilant. Security is a collective responsibility. If you observe anything suspicious, report it. Let us support our Governor in restoring safety to Edo, allowing our mothers to shop, our children to attend school, and our businesses to flourish.

Justice has been served. Edo is on the rise once more.

God bless Edo State.
